hello all. My previous builds have always been rushed used tanks and just transferring live stock.
I hope this will be a picture packed thread.

background: started reefing 2012
I Owned a 180 that was in bad shape leaked for year and there is now a 6’x2’ stain on the hardwood floor, just tiled over it a few months ago.
down sized to a 120 then upgraded to 125 48x30x20.
Took a 3 year break due to work, working on house and so forth.

The build.

Approved budget with out live stock. 5k
Current budget spent 6800$

Tank: ordered a 60x24x20 tank with stand from CDA. 2-4 month build time.
Modular marine overflow

Planning a DIY canopy.

Lights: 2 kessil a360x 1 ap9x
Return: reef octo various 6. ( maybe 2)
skimmer: reef octo elite 150
sump: trigger sapphire 34”
power-heads: nero5 x2
controller: Used apex classic and el brain.

Desired Stock list: (subject to change)
checker board wrasse
Malanarus wrasse
Leopard wrasse
Purple tang
foxface
Midas Blenny
Copperband butterfly
2 clowns

Rock: plan is to do a scape with dry rock, cycle it then seed with some live rock for the life.

Have just about everything I need just waiting on tank to arrive.
Currently looking for a cheap rubber maid shed for water mixing station.

thanks for reading

Just got an update from CDA tank is being started on the 24th of may! It’s still awhile but at least I have date.

I received a Broken EB832 today from a fellow reefer for almost nothing with the intent of repairing. Since I am over my 5k budget already this is the best chance I have to get the items I want and save some money.
The EB832 is doing the click of death on arrival. After looking into it I found a swollen capacitor. If you look at the two caps, the top on the one In front is flat and the one in back is bulging. It may look minor but I am 99.9 confident that’s the issue. So I am going to follow the rebuild advice on another thread and replace all caps on this power supply.

total cost if eb832 and repair is expected to be under 50$

Very nice. I started searching CDA builds, I just put a deposit down on mine. Looking forward to your progress. Looks like a solid build list so far!

Eb832 repaired and working now.
I also picked up another broken eb832 and will be attempting another repair, I did order enough parts to repair a few so maybe I can use them to trade for other items I need.

Small update. With no delays my tank should arrive first week of august. Can’t wait!!!! I have never owned a new tank before
Nice! Glad to hear they give updates like that. Did you place your order in April?

is this going to be a FOWLR or a reef tank? Excited for ya! I’m sure it’s going to turn out awesome based on other threads I’ve seen with CDA tanks and stands.

my deposit was paid in March. During the order process they informed there was a few month lead time. And there was a delay because of the wood shortage.

it will be a reef tank I have never done sps dominant so I’m considering trying that. I have had sps in the past but always mixed reef.

Update: I won the ink bird heater controller and it came super fast. Glad to add it to the plan for redundancy
Also been looking for a used plastic shed locally to use as my water mixing station, My house does not have a garage.

Also I promise lots of pictures once tank arrives.

Just kidding, my wife was telling my tank arrived. My son got me this.
tank is delayed hopefully will ship by next week.

Starting to get a little frustrated with CDA and their delays. I understand things happen, the issue is the lack of communication. I have to reach out to them. The tanks is behind by several months from the original delivery date

Not what I want to hear but had a feeling that'd be the case. I was told a delay from now until 9/4 but I'm guessing it'll be Nov/Dec by the sounds of yours. Hopefully you get yours before they start locking things down again in CA.

I sure hope so. Good luck to use as well. I highly recommend once your build has started your request weekly updates.

I personally don’t mind some delays if they communicate once there is a problem that is delaying progress. I understand things happen, and all the tank builders seem insanely busy.

Finally get to add some pictures.
paint isn’t done. And is expected to ship by end of next week. I sure hope it does.

CDA confirmed they will be shipping system tomorrow! I was told I will be contacted 3-5 days after the shipping company picks it up to set up delivery.

i was originally going to pick the tank up from a freight yard about an hour from me. But due to delays, CDA decided to add curbside delivery to my order free of charge.
