my clown goby needs help!!

So I thought about it actually and when I tested for voltage I had my heater plugged in but not actually heating ... Oops lol ... So I tested again just now with the heater running and it is putting out about 1.1volts into the water ... Is this ok or is any voltage too much??

Some people say any is too much. I haven't ever got to zero. ..probably just havent tried hard enough. If you can attribute 1.1v to the heater I would replace it...definitely.

Alrighty guys the clown goby is improving immensely and the heater will be replaced today hopefully. What do y'all suggest to get ? Don't have much money to spend but I don't want junk so what's a good brand to get? Thanks !!

Question. I read the voltage in the tank comments and decided to test my tanks. I found each tank shows voltage. One at 0.07 the other 2 at 0.04. is this OK? OK re- tested and it is reading 3.5 volts close to the same in each tank.

I can't remember what brand I'm using. I got from aquatic marine about 2 years ago. Any titanium heater will be good, especially one with a built in controller.

Grounding probs are used by a lot of reefers. Try searching reef2reef for more info on stray voltage. I'm not sure if any level is acceptable.

I think all tanks will have a small amount of stray voltage. I don't think 3.5v is much to worry about(although I could be wrong), you are always going to have some leakage.

I've got a tank with a bunch of tangs, which from what I've read, are more sensitive to voltage than most fish. If I can remember, i will check my voltage and see what I have. All my tangs are healthy and I've never had ich in the tank or on any of them... also no lateral line...whatever they call it...disease, erosion..I forget what it's called. As for heaters...I have three of the big eheim/jagers. A bit of advice...keep your receipt. The local store doesn't take them back under warranty, and eheim will NOT help you out if you don't have a reciept. I will likely be looking into another brand...one in which the manufacturer is a bit more friendly with their warranty. To me, it's a bit rediculous to make a customer keep a receipt on a $30 item for three years, then take 2 weeks+ to get a replacement. If you count on Eheim to replace your heater in the winter, you may have fish die before you get one.

High amounts of stray voltage would mean there's an issue, but stray voltage isn't going to kill anything until you or something completes the circuit. The circuit can be completed by putting your hand in the tank or using a ground probe. Once you complete the circuit you have current and current is what kills.

Grounding probes for fish tanks are not for protecting your fish and coral, they are used to protect you from electrocution.
