Ok guys, I come home from class tonight and I find my clownfish in my overflow. I have a 6 foot 150 gallon with corner overflows. Does anyone have expierence getting fish out of overflows and how did you do it?I tried using a small net but i failed miserably. Thanks in advance.

Wow that really $___S, I am sorry to hear that. Only thing that I could suggest is you continue trying with the net. Good luck

shut off your return pump and then pump out most of the water from the box. When you get it pretty low it should be very easy to net the clown. I have done this plenty of times in my old tank

Idk how your overflow is but in mines i took off the top piece of my PVC tubing and gave him the chance to go in ending up in my sump within hours he was down there and I scooped him back into my DT gl

remove your over flow stand pipe like mentioned before and get him out of your sump is the best way

You can get a net and bend it so the net part is skinny enough to fit into the overflow. Then you can scoop him out. Have patience because it takes a bit of time sometimes. I've had to do this with wrasses before.

This happened to my wrasse last week. I turned off my return pump and the syphoned out the water from the overflow box, and scooped him up with a net. It was easy.

I have a few fish that liked the overflow box when they were in my ninty gallon. To prevent the stress of a panicking fish running from a net I drain all the water out and scoop them up in my net with ease; works great.

Thanks for the quick responses everyone.I tried netting him again after i took the top of the stand pipe without any success. So i took LPS's advice and leave the top off of the stand pipe.I left it that way for about an hour and went back and checked on it and the lil guy took a roller coaster ride down to the sump. I netted him out of the sump and dumped him back in the tank. Thanks again everyone.

glad to hear my advice worked i feel its the best way less stress on all parties involved lol
