Good Afternoon Everyone,
About two months ago, I noticed my little clownfish was missing. The other of the pair, wasn't too healthy when I bought them and he passed away. =( The little fella, was fine though. He was swimming and eating, and then one day, POOF! He was gone. I looked everywhere, or so I thought. I checked the Overflow box, I checked the sump. I looked behind the tank even! No where to be found. He was so little, I assumed that the CuC got him. After a few months, I was prepared to purchase some more clownfish to go into my DT. I get the new long fin Clowns and bring them home. They've been in the tank now for about a month. Well, yesterday, I noticed my Diamond Goby wasn't around and I was scared I had lost my third fish. I start looking every where, I have a top, so I didn't think he jumped out, but you never know. I get my incredibly bright, LED flashlight and I go to look behind the tank. I see movement in the HOB Overflow... I'm like there he is! As I'm moving around the tank to get to the Overflow, I notice the Diamond Goby sifting sand in the back behind the rock. Wait, if you're there, then.... who's in the OVERFLOW?! Sure enough, little Clown is in there. I felt SO BAD! Little man has been in there for 3 months!
I was so happy to see him! He was my first SW Fish and I'm rather attached to him. I rescued him from the overflow, but now I knew I had another issue. I have two new clowns. Knowing that the chances of them all getting alone was slim to none, I went ahead and put the little fella into the DT. Immediately, the new Clowns were being quite rude. I was hoping it would settle, but after a little bit, I knew this wasn't going to work out. The two new ones are a mated pair and they were picking on the little fella pretty bad. I removed the little guy and he is currently living down in the Sump. My son has a 10g tank I'm going to convert into SW for the little guy. He seems happy in the sump for now, but I was pretty mad at the new ones for following their natural behavior and being mean to him. Now, I know it seems a lot of us get tired of people calling our Clowns Nemo, but the little guy literally Nemo'ed through the Siphon elbow that goes from the front to the back of the overflow, lol! I named him "Cemo" after my cousin who's had some bad luck this year of 2020 already. His house caught on fire on Jan 1, 2020 and then what the fire didn't get, the tornadoes that came through the area last week finished it. A tree even fell on the shed where he put what he was able to salvage of his belongings. I called my cousin and told him I named my fish after him, which made him laugh.
Who else has had a fish try to pull a "Nemo" escape?
