My Copperband Butterflyfish died, should I replace?

My Copperband butterflyfish got stuck on my MP40 today and died. I suspect it was a freak accident.

Given that they only eat frozen, I’m wondering if they are worth the hassle?

Having that Fish in my tank means that anytime I go away, I need someone to come feed him frozen. Plus the extra feeding makes NO3 and PO4 and issue.

What are people’s thoughts on this fish and maintaining a tank? Worth the hassle?

I think that is a personal decision on how much you like that particular fish. I only feed frozen so for me or here at the store were we also only feed frozen it wouldn't even be a thought. You may want to look into your filtering if feeding some frozen gives you nutrient issues.

In my experience, about one in ten survives long term. You will probably hear several success stories but not all of the failures. I have a hard time with that many dead fish.

Good points. I do like that fish.

It’s not that I get issue feeding frozen all the time. I just have to closely monitor my nutrients. When feeding flake on a timer, I can test phosphate once a week etc.

I know it’s a personal choice but I’m open to others options.

I’ve had 2 butterfly fish get stuck on the power head now. Gutted.

Never had one that made it past quarantine.
