My corals like All for reef, do yours? Lets

This is an old shot from January. Lots more packed now. I dose 15ml a day on a fluval 32 gallon. I love All For Reef, but I do have to add magnesium separately to keep it up.

lol I reread my post and it does sound like that. Honestly I was just trying to see others success with it and I thought that would grab people’s attention.

also my tank is super happy and it’s pretty much set and forget . I have a relatively new baby at home and the fact that sometime I don’t test for 3-4 weeks and my alk is always 8.3 to 8.5 every time makes me want to share that experience.

Nice, I don’t know anything about potassium dosing. What do you use to test? Noticeable improvement over AFR on its own?

I use it as I have a salifert test and it drops. All for reef doesnt contain it and I believe it's my refugium taking a huge chunk of it out of the water

25ish ml/day on my 150. I ran it on my 25 gallon for about a year and a half before upgrading to this tank. The middle section (first pic) is the rock sculpture that was the 25g.

I use A4R and going on 18+ months no water changes. 200 gallon display, dosing 78mls a day. Alk does swing a bit more during the day than when I used 2-part, but the corals don't seem to mind.

I still do water changes and TM AFR does not replenish everything that the coral growth consumes. I get at least one in a month but usually average 2 looking back. 20% per which is about 20 gallons. Not a lot but have found it helps.

Of course not, but for everything else there's high quality-food-fed-fish poop. It's got what corals crave.

I’ve got a bit of a war story. AFR was extremely stable as I was fighting off health issues and not monitoring anything for 1.5yrs

I’ve been using the AFR powder on a 75g system along with the TM Pro Reef salt since November 2020

February 2021 I was dosing 24mL/day with these results

life went off the rails previous to this and the system was on autopilot from end of Jan 2021 to July 2022 due to the health issues.

Trident clogged somewhere in there and I just never tested again untill recently. Trident never swayed from those numbers over 13months while operating


here we are now just dosing 18mL/day, I had dialed it back as things went south back then

Alk -7.5-7.9
Cal - 502
Mg - 1350

these are numbers from blindly continuing a dose that was previously balanced from consistent test results over 8months of monitoring

i find that pretty remarkable.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS METHOD

But I do enjoy the AFR consistency and stability. I think my corals benefited greatly in a very bad situation

I have a 40b display tank. 90% SPS. Two water changes per year

AFR dose total is 72 mL + BRS alk 21mL

kH 7.5 - Salifert
Mg 1420 - Salifert
Cal 450 - Salifert & Red Sea Pro
Nitrates 4 - Hanna
Phosphate 0.01 - Hanna

I have a 75 gallon + sump. I don't dose potassium on a consistent schedule but rather something like every other week to a month.

Currently dosing about 36ml per day of All For Reef with good results. I test and dose potassium as needed and a little extra iron for the fuge too.

I use the purple bucket instant ocean. No idea how much potassium it contains, this is the first icp test I did showing it's low. It's my fault though, I neglected the tank for about 5 months. Currently in progress of trying to get my parameters back.

Not placing blame. Apologies if it sounded that way. If you haven't check to see if the salt, instant ocean, lists any numbers as it relates to alk, ca, potassium, etc. I don't remember if it does or not. That way at least you may know what you are starting at or around.

All good I didn’t take it that way. I’ve tried searching but can’t find the parameters of IO. I’m planning to do weekly water change to bring it back up. Results shows I’m low on couple elements also.

I used to use All for Reef at early stages of my reef tank but transferred away from it. I believe every tank is different and trace elements get used up differently for everyone. For me it was all of my euphyillia corals closing up after the 4th month of All for reef because I was overdosing few trace elements using the product and water changes alone. I’d take caution using this product long term.
