I was reading through all the internal parasites thread. I’m sure you have to. I saw your post on there. I’m with you. I’m wondering what happen to Humblefish. I noticed you didn’t get a response on that question. Hmm. The only other med I saw was levamisole.

I wish I had found this post before....
I ordered some fish from LA. Flame Angel, chromis, cardinal, Blenny, and a longfin fairy wrasse. One cardinal arrived DOA.

I had my QT (10 gallon NUVO) set up for several weeks (3-4). Was ghost feeding some and would seed with a little water from DT. Probably a bad idea now that I think of it. Got ATO set up and even been floating a ball of cheato.

Fish arrived and I did the drip acclimation per LA directions and as I have with my other fish. Waited until the next day to dose with Praxipro and Cupramine. I had done both in the past without this issue.

Anyway, next day the fairy wrasse started laying on its side and breathing heavy. Tested water and notice ammonia spiked to 0.5-1 and nitrite was off the chart.

I had 5 gallons of fresh sw on hand so I started changing it out. Over the evening and next morning. Also added most of a small bottle of biospria.

Wrasse didn’t make it. Two days later and this morning my flame Angel has gone. Ammonia at 0-0.25 but nitrite is still 2-5ppm.

New water being made. Going to do a full WC.

I hope I don’t lose the others. I feel really bad as I think I just didn’t have a fully set QT tank biofilter and over did it on the medications. To hard and fast from what I have learned here.

It sounds like you didn't have a bacteria build up set. It's reccomended to seed rock and or sponge media that was floating in your sump for a week

I honestly think your issue was too many fish in a 10 gallon tank. To qt 5 active swimmers I’d suggest a 30 gallon with a few seeded sponges.

I did have three seeded rocks in there but took them out prior to dosing cooper. So I think that is where I messed up. I do have 4 sponges in the back of the tank. I just think I didn’t have it fully set for such a bioload.

I think that may be some of the problem too. They did come pretty small so I was hoping they would be okay. Too many with such a poorly established tank.

If I could recommend something at this point would be to dump bio spira to help control the params.

Howdy,

Can I dose general cure to the water column while I am at therapeutic copper?

I wanna take care of any external parasites for the last week.

I was talking to humblefish he said to dose the metro during copper, because fish with brook, urenoma, etc won't make it to the tank transfer. But even so, you still do two rounds of prazi?

If you are using metro during copper even more of a reason to use Prazipro instead of GC post copper.

Prazipro is liquid praziquantel
GC contains both metronidazole and praziquantel in powder form

If I have to use prazi during copper then I would elect to use GC because there is a slightly lesser chance for a bacterial bloom since the powder form doesn't contain any alcohol. The liquid form does which can fuel the bacterial bloom.
