WOW!! And to think I panicked over losing power for 7hrs. Why have you lost power?
All because of the weather.
All week the weather forecasters were calling for a possibility of thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon.
We get them all the time. Usually it's just normal spring storms with rain, maybe some wind and on occasion thunder and lightning.
So about 3pm we got a really spectacular thunder and lightning show. It went on for about a half hour or so.
I sat on my porch and watched it until it started raining.
Then it seemed liked it was over, although there were still some pretty black threatening clouds.
About 4:30 I went over to a local burger stand ( trailer along side a highway) that makes really good cheese burgers.
As I was sitting in the drive through waiting, all of a sudden it started to get dark ( like almost night) and I could see this black wall coming right at us.
With in seconds the rain was coming down so hard I could only see out my windows a couple feet. Then the wind hit. The rain started going completely sideways to the right. After a few minutes it was going to the left for a while, then it was going UP.
At the same time branching from trees were hitting my Jeep along with parts of the burger stands signs. Saw garbage cans and lids flying past. Saw the wooden picnic tables rolling past.
It was really very exciting and scarey at the same time.
I really thought I had seen the inside of a small tornado. And I've talked with a dozen or so other people since and they all said the same thing.
But the local weather service said it was called a " Microburst" IDK, there was nothing micro about it, except it really only lasted about 20 minutes.

So after I got home the power was out and remained out for a little over 2 days.
The wind damage to in my area was huge. Trees everywhere uprooted, long lines of power poles knocked down.
There are some spots near me that people are going to be without power for a couple more days.
