After seeing the deep blue rimless frag tank I wanted to set one up as a display, so I picked one up and to work I went.
Some info on the system:
The lighting is going to be a 6x54 tech t5 system,I had LED on my other setup and hated everything about it,it has a eshopps cone skimmer for now till I swap it out and a duel sump set up.You will see in the pics the lower sump for the skimmer and above it is a second sump that will be strickly for macro. This sump will be fed via a manifold system and will return into the lower sump.
I will update as I progress.
Heres some build pics to get started

Looking good. I've always went with t5 as well. Did you order this directly from deep blue? I want one so badly!

No I got it from a dealer in PA.
They have a whole line out as well, and a new 100 gallon thats 48x30 thats going to be highlited at the njrc swap this weekend.

From the few LFS that carry them here in IL, they are apparently very hard to get in. I had to wait a couple months for mine, but for $300 for an 80 gallon (not the rimless version) it was worth the wait.

Did a little plumbing today, wish I would have taken a little more time to me it looks a little sloppy I hate seeing primer.....

Great looking plumbing job, as for the primer I'd rather get a little extra on the pipe than too little and have it leak.

Ok so the tank came to life on July 4th,heres some pics.Im doing a small amount of rock on this system, ignore the heater and LED neither will be used on this tank

And some corals that will go in
Orange crush

My new favorite coral Jack-o-Lantern sorry crappy iphone pic

Grapes of wrath

nuke greens and capt Americas

Stocking will be mixed bag sps, lps, zoo palys and maybe chalices, for fish have really been leaning towards seahorses and pipefish and possably a pair of ORA blue mandarins. But that's still up in the air
With the mandarins being ORA, they're assured of eating prepared foods.

Well with the LOOOOOOOOOOONG nasty winter here in nwnj I haven't had time to do anything with the tank so it has suffered big time,I am planning to drain the tank and start over since im battleing a MAJOR aptasia break out that has everything covered.
Im picking up a filefish tomorrow to start cleaning the liverock in another tank,so keep an eye out for the rebirth of this tank.
Thanks

Besides the winter I tried a new product on my tank that led to a devastating cyano outbrake that wiped out all my corals.
so the tank has been drained,as much as I hated to I got rid of the black sand it was too much for my wife to handle the tank with it since theres nothing in it to buffer the water and its constant testing.
So I added a layer of fine sand and covered it with puka shell substrate added is all set back up grabbed some frags and im waiting for new t5 bulbs to come in so I have the LED on the tank again for now.
I ill post picks in the next fews days.
Thanks

care to share the name of the product? might be a good heads up :) congrats on getting the tank getting rebooted
