So I don't use much mechanical filtration, but do run a filter sock on my tank when ever I'm cleaning or feeding. Right now I soak them in bleach and then spray with a jet nozzle and air dry. I was wondering about the phosphates in the filter material, Do you think the bleaching and rinsing is enough or should I consider also soaking them in lanthanum? I guess I don't see any disadvantage to the extra soak except for the added cost.

Thanks

Phosphate won't generally stick to fibers (or plastic) the way it does to calcium carbonate, so I wouldn't worry about that aspect of the socks. :)

Thanks Randy, I won't worry about it then. Just finished reading your paper on phosphates for the third time and my head hurts
