My Disaster..caused by my head

Firstly, I'm sorry to see this... Second, you have a great attitude about this! Lastly... for no reason, the picture of that tank in the trashcan made me laugh (i'm sorry)

I have the same concern about the tank stand from Deepblue, being particle board. Anyone have any advice?
The Great Trashcan Reef is doing pretty well all things considered. I found so much when emptying the broken aquarium. It was INSANE!

That’s what you call improvise adapt and overcome. Glad to hear you are ok.

Thank you! It’s okay, I had the same reaction [emoji6]

I am pretty sure I saw you in a Naked Gun movie...

I kid, I kid.... :)

1. I'm glad you're ok. Ladders are the devil....
2. Hopefully you have used up all of your back luck for a very long time in one day.
3. Can't wait to see your rebuild post.
4. If you had anything you did not like at least now you get to fix those things.

Ugh.

I hate ladders. They don't build them for guys my size. Watched a guy on a 25' extension ladder doing some work in the ceiling of a processing plant, ladder folded, he came down to a concrete slab. Lived through it, probably wished he hadn't for a while. My home is all on one floor, I had a 50 year steel roof installed shortly after I bought it, and picked up a gutter cleaning attachment for my power washer. Anything I need to get off the ground for, I generally hire it done.

Glad your fish and critters made it!

For what it's worth, the tanks stands from Red Sea are particle board and they are considered a pretty high quality stand.

I'd have to go another way on this one. Particle board holds up just fine, as long as it doesn't get wet.

Heck, my reloading bench is 3/4" MDF over 2x4's, with a coat of poly over it. Has held up for decades, no problems... but it doesn't get wet!

Anyone here have a tank for any length of time without getting the stand wet?

Me neither. I don't understand particle board stands. Let's put what is likely the heaviest object in your home, a big, fragile, glass box full of water, on a stand that _will_ fail if it gets wet. Come on, folks, plywood isn't that expensive.

Glad you're ok. Don't forget about yourself in all this. Head trauma with LOC means concussion. Watch for symptoms and get checked out if anything different unusual is going on!

Can't wait to see the build thread! Way to look on the bright side!

Wow you are one lucky guy considering everything that happened...

Sorry to hear that!! Glad you’re ok though !

Wow!
That is crazy ! sounds like something I would make up to get a new tank..lol

If you have homeowner's Insurance you could check with if it's a covered.

Also what type of ladder did you use?
Was there a rating on the ladder shouldn't have collapse like that?
Can I have a percentage of the win if you sue.....lol

I would like to change perspectives a little bit -
1. You fell from a ladder -
2. You fell onto a Glass item, which broke, and did not get sliced to ribbons
3. You got knocked unconscious, albeit briefly
4. You got electrocuted, beginning while you were unconscious!
5. You are still alive, and able to share the story!

You had an incredibly GOOD day, all things considered! And, you saved your fish! EVEN BETTER!

Yes, I have optimist problems, I realize!

Glad you are okay, and are able to see the positives from all of this!

No one can dispute your love for your fish...amazing story and glad you are OK. Ditto on amazing fortitude!
