Thought I'd share the dosing device I built :) It's nothing new and revolutionary and I'm sure something very similar has been posted on just about every DIY reefing site in history, but here's mine!

What you'll need:
A clean 600ml Powerade bottle (the kind with the pop top lid).
Some airline. I used about a foot long or so, but any length will work.
An airline tap.
Something to create a hole or 2 in the bottle. I used a knife to "drill" a hole in it, but that's quite dangerous so I don't recommend it.
Some aquarium safe super glue or silicon.

Step one : make a hole in the side of the bottle as low as you can, but NOT in the bottom.

Step 2 : insert air line about a quarter inch in.
Step 3 : silicon/glue it down.

Step 4 : add the tap to the end.

Step 5 : leak test!
Step 6 : pop open the lid, add your favourite additive, set the tap to drip however fast you like and let it go!

Added thoughts/comments.
I only ever add a small amount of whatever I'm dosing at a time incase the tap fails and it dumps the whole lot in. I've never had mine fail, but better safe than sorry!
If you don't have a pop top lid, you'll need to add a second hole as high up the bottle as possible or in the lid so air can enter the bottle to displace the water.
I like the pop top lids because it creates a seal. I can close the tap, add my water and additives, close the lid and shake it up! No need to pre mix it :)
I chose such a small bottle as opposed to, say a 5g bucket because I can sit this on top of my tank and not worry about it cracking my lids.
It can also be used to acclimate new friends a distance from your tank, feed liquid foods and even as an excuse to drink more Powerade :P
If I had a proper stand and a sump I'd add one of those bicycle water bottle holders to the inside back wall of the stand to keep everything organised and out of the way and let it drip directly into the sump.

Have fun with your new dosing equipment and happy reefing!

Thanks :)
Mines been working well without issues for about 6 months now.

Update!
On the original one I built several months ago I used silicon. On the one I built for the pictures in this thread I used super glue.
I no longer advise super glue and highly recommend the silicon!
After 2 uses the super glue went brittle and broke leaving me simply with a bottle with a hole in it spilling water everywhere.
The silicon one is still holding strong and is very resilient. I haven't had a single issue with the silicon and will always use it on future ones I may build.
