Got it the size of a quater about 1 year ago. Please post some pics of yours.

I have a cap I received from Bob last year.....Green w/ red polys. The polys are really close together. With all the ORA's, ATL's, and LE's I have collected...Bobs cap is still my fav.

That first monti looks a lot like my orange turbinaria, especially how it is so smooth skinned with out the bumpy corralites that most caps have. Poseidon, that picture is awesome!

The polyps are yellow on it, not sunset green. I also have the green with pink polyps. Called strawberry patch I believe. And yes, posidens cap picture rocks.

Love those caps. They just have a high demand for calcium. But they do look beautiful.

Rebecca,

Can you get a closer picture of it? That is an interesting looking piece, with the polyps so far spaced out, etc.

Here is mine, i love the white polyps on green background

I've got several fairly new caps in my 135g -- orange, purple, green w/purple rim, and purple w/green polyps. I love 'em! Hopefully I'll be able to show off some grow out pics in the future. Meanwhile, here's a pic of my orange monti cap in my 75g. This grew from a small frag from H@rry's tank that I got about 5 years ago; it has literally grown out of my tank -- at one point it was well over 18" in diameter. I've fragged it and broken it back many times. Here it is partially exposed during a water change.

I had one do the same things. wonder why they grow out of the tank like this.

if they do this why dont we have all sort of giant monti sticking out of the ocean lol

I've never seen one grow above the waterline where it is exposed to the air. I've had them grow UP TO the waterline, but never above it. The picture Mariner is showing is while the water level is drawn down during a water change.

they WILL grow out of the water. had a monti and several stags that did this. not by much but they did break the surface by a good inch.

Looks good Rebbeca, nice growth too! I like the plating patterns. On the calcium, I had to reduce mine alot when I had to toss all my monti's from nudis. They never seemed to touch my Idaho grape though and the encrusted pieces left, that I couldn't remove, are coming back nicely. A friend of mine had a Idaho that nudis would never eat either. Weird.

PS - That green and purple monti with the Garf inside is unbelievably cool!
