My first 240+ tank build

Finally! after 1 and a half month, my tank is ready again. I hope this time will last forever. Did i said forever? LOL. I hope it really could last forever! Just like our passion toward reefing! So I'm going to show you my current rockscape (A) and previous rockscape (B). Please make your comment. By the way, I will choose to go for bare bottom for this time as I want to have lots of flow for this sps dominated tank. There will be 2 x maxspect gyre XF280 and 2 x mp40QD for this tank and recently I just bought a Vectra L1 for this tank too. Therefore 1 x Vectra L1 and 2 x Jebao DC 6000 comes to a total 23,500L/hr for my 1,500L tank. I will adding another Vectra L1 in the future to replace Jebao DC 6000.

Lookin' pretty sharp!

I just moved my Gyre X-50s into the 220 last night, and found that at full bore, they not only created a sandstorm on the bottom and moved a few frags around, but also ripped pea-sized bubbles from the surface, forcing them halfway down the water column, where the flows collided at the center of the tank. I've dialed them back a bit, and set the flow to the "Lunar Tidal Cycle" - see how that goes.

Yes, that's right! Gyre really create alot of flow. The flow is too strong in my tank that create alot of micro bubble inside the main display. I have to dial down as i worried the micro bubble might disturb the coral. Currently I'm running OGC at 70% max 50% min. For a sps dominated tank, do you think OGC better or LTC?

A.

Side note, love your attitude towards obstacles. Rather than wallow in sorrow you celebrate it and move on. Kudos!
Lol! I did depressed about the crack, but the passion toward reefing give me the power to overcome it! Anyway thanks! Happy reefing!

I don't think my LTC / OGC work right ... In OGC mode, the pumps ramp up and down, but strictly in opposition to one another - both pumps on at the same speed at the same time. In LTC, the pumps both pulse, but don't trade force back and forth to produce the alternating, tidal currents through the day.

I wound up putting both pumps in forward/reverse mode, but with differing ramp-up / ramp-down / pulse length times, so that the flow in the aquarium changes through the day - the pumps are synchronized sometimes, anti-synced at others. In forward, they're at maybe 50%, and that's a lot when they're colliding (along with 2,500 gph through the returns...), and they're at 100% when they're in reverse.

Love your choices with color and form creating this tank.
