Finished moving my 20L into its new 29 gallon with a 29 sump. Pretty excited about this. I have been in the hobby for a little while but after joining R2R I realize how much there is to learn.

Any comments, advice, must haves, don'ts etc are much appreciated. I wanna master the art of the reef so I can build a 120 or larger in the future with confidence.

Happy reefing!

Reminds me of my first setup :-)
Just some ideas for ya:
I would get out of an overflow box as soon as possible. Though, I did run one successfully for two years, but that would be my first recommendation, it's just a matter of time ;)

RODI unit (include the auto-shut off float!). Apex controller (preference). Lights, LEDs are just amazing (it's a fun DIY project, but Radions...wow!). 1.1 ml BRS dosing pumps (preference) for 2-part or do Kalk for top off (run Alk or Kalk at night to help pH swing, run Ca+ during day). Vortech MP10 (preference) with their battery backup (I feel this is a must). Eventually an Osmolator by Tunze (preference). [emoji4]

You got a nice start up going! :)

Yes, all good stuff. Is the overflow different than the box that runs into the sump? This tank is drilled and has two hoses running down to the sump.

Just watery the BRS episode in kalk dosing. I think my next project (after I build the lighting fixture, I have components for a 2x T5) will be an auto top off and dosing system. I have an RO buddy set up in my laundry room.

My bad! I thought that was an over the back overflow, haha! Glad to hear you're drilled! Your off to an amazing start! It's going to be a great little package :) I currently just setup a RSM 130D tank I won for $5 at Seattle SEA-MAX awhile back :) I've done several modifications to the tank, unfortunately I won't have a sump for mine :)
Anyway, anything you can do to automate and add redundancy safeties is best, just so dang costly for some :-)

Yeah, I guess the trick is one new piece of gear at a time. Same went for music gear while I was touring.

Once I start buying from BRS I am going to pick their brain as well, I live about 10 minutes from their warehouse so they say you can pick up orders.

Ha! Lucky!! Ooh that would be bad for me [emoji38]

About 1 year later. Had some up and downs, plenty of battles with algae and cyno, but I think everything is finally under control.
