Oh sorry I was unclear I meant raise your light up off the tank a bit more. like an inch or twoI can't lower or raise the intensity. The only thing I can do is extend the amount of time the light is on right now it's on for 5 and a half hours.
Only way to low intensity would be to raise the light up higher off the tank.
I’m gonna tag a fellow reefer who’s got more knowledge on anemones. @Bob Loblaw this reefer has bought what seems to be a bleached LTA and 3 days in the new tank it’s mouth is starting to open. The tank is 8 months with low (but not 0) nitrates. If its bleched what color should it be did i buy a sick anemone?
I think I have the lighting book still it should have the specs. I'm not buying a new light so idk what well do.It's bleached but there's still some zoax visible. Tentacles will turn a nice green/tan color when healthy. Getting the foot to plant with new LTAs is half the battle. Looks like it's settled into the rock/sand interface which should be good. I wouldn't be too concerned with the mouth being open if that is as bad as it gets. What you don't want to see is a gaping "loose" mouth that is affected by the flow. If you see that, pull and Cipro.
How's the feeding response? Grabbing food? If so, does it pull the food to the mouth and how fast? If you haven't tried feeding, try spot feeding one or two pieces of mysid and gauge response. Turkey baster works well to spot feed nems.
I'm not familiar with that light but looking at the description, I don't think it's going to support the nem. They don't mention any of the power specs which is generally an indicator that it's not up to snuff.
A trick for the future- put a piece of pvc (slightly wider than the foot) into the sandbed and place foot in the pvc. LTAs don't split.
Thanks again man! I had no idea LTAs never splitIt's bleached but there's still some zoax visible. Tentacles will turn a nice green/tan color when healthy. Here are the specs for my light.Feeding should help it recover but if lighting isn't adequate it's a moot point. I'm not saying the light is not sufficient, I just don't know anything about that particular light choice. I'd spot feed a one-two pieces of PE mysid every other day or an eraser size piece of shredded salmon once a week.
