So this is my first clam, got it as a gift but I wanna know if this one is a healthy one .
I do know they need low to moderate flow with high lighting and pretty much found a spot for it. Here are some pics
Also wanna know if the white rock looking thing is the foot? How does it attach itself to the rock it's in? I've had the clam for about 5hrs. It's night time here already and won't see it again until the next day when I get out of work since I heard they need to attach to a solid surface within 24hrs? Any tips?

Squamosa or maxima? Squamosa like sand. And will walk! Enough flow to almost flutter the mantle and the stuff you are already doing. Congratulations!

Maxima
I heard that the big gap and with the mouth wide open is not a good sign?

wait till the lights come on:). Theres a lot going on changing tanks. In the wild they land and stay there for 100 years. so its probably pretty weird for them

How did it look at the LFS?

Hate to say but does not look healthy at all to me. If it's wild caught, survival rate is very, very poor. Even without the lights on, a clams mantle should not be as sunk in as this one is.

This sucks, it still flinches but just doesn't open as much. Maybe it's the reason why it's mouth has been wide open

Tank parameters?
Alk
Ca
Mg
No3
No2
Amonia

Could you post a pic of it with lights on? A few hours after they have been on would be best to help determine the true state of the clam.
