Yesterday I bought my first coral, an Euphyllia. How would you judge its condition?
Its quite small, like 6 cm in length.

If you just added it it’s going to take a bit to open up.

Looks like a hammer, give it time to acclimate and open up. They dont like strong flow, I like to keep mine down low in the tank.

Thanks! Ive had it for 24h hour. Do you think it will open more?

Ive seen really big ones. Any chance my will grow a lot or is it just a small one?

When I got my first three, they looked like that as well. Click on my build thread below and you can see how big they have gotten in just a few months.

It looks perfectly healthy. Feed it, they like to eat almost anything.

Hope you are right! I managed to place some food on it, but my shrimps steals the food from it. Any ideas how I can avvoid that?
You can try to lure your shrimps away from it with food and then quickly go back and feed the hammer, they really dont need to be fed.

This looks like a healthy hammer. Please note flesh is different from euphyllia to euphyllia.

Leave it alone, it might be fully extended and is just a smaller frag.

Let it acclimate for a week and then take another picture.

Maybe you are right, I regress.

I like my hammers too look like this underneath. Flesh extending way past the head.
