My first Cyano outbreak on week 4

I would hold off on adding anything that would further reduce nitrates or phosphates. Now that dino is on the run I would add some lr to restablish some bio diversity.

Your right I was just thinking of it out competing the cyano but that stuff doesn’t work like macro algae. Tricky stuff and a lot to remember thank you so much for being here @sfin52 you have sure made this struggle easier

It’s going, Dino’s are gone yay, cyano comes and goes mostly just on substrate now. I’m changing carbon and going to syphon some out this weekend. Been trying to keep out of it I think my tang has got something so will be doing a FW dip this weekend as well

GHA is abundant and we have a coralline bloom too so that’s another great sign, I will post images this weekend thanks for checking up.

That is great to hear. I bet you never thought you would be so excited to see gha. Way to stick with it. You next step would to start to increase clean up crew.

It’s a tang I knew it would have issues lol I just feed them like crazy 3+ times a day,and it’s already looking so much better. It’s going to be an eventful weekend doing the FW dips never had to catch a tang but I can foresee ait being at night

Still no Dino’s yay and cyano is still receding, I haven’t been able to do a cleaning or W/C yet. But should be able to next weekend or partials this week. So ready for my full time job to be over so I can handle everything in a timely manner

I do still have patches of cyano but I think if I can pull it out and flip those rocks it should stay gone

Hair algae is still growing strong the tangs don’t seem to like it but I sure do =) nitrates took a dive I’m still trying to work that out I don’t understand how I can dose so much on a schedule and have such erratic fluctuations, will be adding a wave maker next weekend and a new light a power surge knoced out 4 of my six bulbs luckily they are repairing it free so I ordered and additional fixture for new set up to use until it gets back.

I know it has been a long time however I never gave up! instead I purchased a 150g pre cycled with a sump “6months old”. I only kept coral, base rock and CUC . chemi cleaning my current build then moving my rock and all current inhabitants into it this weekend and taking some of the rock I don’t like from new aquarium out. I have a feeling that if I transfer everything after treatment and discarding the crushed coral bed I have all will be fine. The cyano is almost completely gone but still comes and goes so I feel my ancient substrate is the culprit.
