Hey guys so I got my first fish yesterday for my 20g tank its a maroon clown fish. Been cycling the tank for 2 weeks and adding drops of bio s to it everyday. No amonia or nitrites so decided to add a hardy fish after the aquarium store owner tested my water again to make sure its safe. The maroon clownfish is captive-bred so its used to being in aquariums all of its life. It's a male and the guy at the store showed me how me how he feeds it with his hands. The second he put his fingers with the food in the tank it rushed to the food and ate so I'm pretty sure its super healthy. My question is, he hasn't been eating since I put him in my tank? He rushed to the food I give him but he put the food in his mouth and spits it out directly ( does that multiple times until he stops ) I called the guy he said that I should wait 2 days so the fish gets less stressed and becomes more comfortable in the tank. If he doesn't eat I'll get him brine shrimp (the food the fish is used to from the aquarium store) The food I tried is tropical bionautic granulat 275g and normal gold fish flakes. What do you guys think of all of this? Thanks :)

I agree that stressed fish don't tend to eat well. Try again tomorrow and see. Its also possible he doesn't like the flake and granules as he is used to frozen I'm guessing? You could also buy frozen brine for him to start eating and add some flakes to the thawed brine. Thats how i got a few fish to take flakes. Now they suck up flakes like candy. Of course its only something i give once a week, i feed mostly thawed frozen foods like mysis and marine cuisine.

The sand bed got kinda messy from the food so I tried removing them before they rot and ruin the water quality. He is used to frozen brine shrimp the food looks like a brown pellete of bread

It wouldn't be at all surprising for it to spit out the gold fish food. It's not part of their natural diet. I would try to feed what the lfs was feeding and than gradually add the food you are trying to feed.

He spat out the tropical bionautic granulat. He didn't even get close to the goldfish flakes. It would be better for me if he'll eat the brine shrimp because it costs like quarter of what I tried giving him. Brine shrimp costs 5$ the tropical bionautic granulat I got for him costed 22$ lol
