Here is another positive review for Pacific Island Aquatics (PIA) for those of you embarking on your first internet fish purchase. Like others, I was reluctant to send my money to some URL in Hawaii with no accessible phone number or means of future recourse….but I decided to take the leap and was greatly rewarded for it.
Kevin served as our internet contact and always responded within 24 hours, and usually much sooner. A group of us in mid-Missouri got together to purchase >$500 to get over the free shipping hump. We purchased a variety of inverts, wrasses, anthias and tangs. Unfortunately, there were some delays in shipping because of variables out of Kevin’s control. As reassurance that the fish were on site and healthy, Kevin took quality photographs of the animals for us to see. It was clear that he kept fish and acclimated them until THEY were ready to ship. I was impressed by this as many outfitters just want them offsite with money dominating decisions over animal welfare. Items were shipped in quality boxes with heatpacking and insulation. Fish that were unable to be shipped on the first order and one that didn’t survive the first trip were shipped later with no additional shipping fees. As compensation for the delay, PIA even sent an extra fish and coral frag!!! Most importantly, when the fish arrived they were beautiful and priced reasonably. You can’t beat the flame wrasses; Pictures don’t do them justice!

I have never had such a positive experience purchasing anything over the internet, let alone something as fragile and time sensitive as fish. PIA is now my number one fish source and I recommend them highly to anyone else. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my experience. Thanks Kevin!
