My first Pink Tip Anemone! Looking for care tips :)

Hello! Last weekend I bought 2 Percula Clowns (false) and this weekend I got a Pink Tip Anemone. I was reluctant to get one since my tank is still fairly new (6 mos), but it was only $9 so I figured I'd give it a shot. So I've naturally got lots of questions, being my first nem!

I hear they are good for beginners, but I'm wondering

1. What do they eat? I've heard they can eat freshwater guppies? Is that true?
2. Are my 2 False Percula Clowns likely to bond with it?
... which leads to my 3rd question.
3. If my 2 False Percula Clowns don't bond with it, would it be a bad idea go purchase a Clarkii Clown? or 2? My tank is a 36" long 30 gallon.

I also wanted to ask about Iodine or Trace Elements. Do I need either of these?

And finally! I have some hermits, snails and 1 emerald. Will they be good to my anemone? Will my anemone be good to them?

Ack! So I just acclimated him and settled him in the tank and he's having trouble. My circulation pump was blowing him around all over the place and I had to turn it off. Do I need to sit him on a rock? How can I get him to take a good foot hold? I turned off the circulation pump but now he's just laying sideways on the sand. Will he be able to right himself? Poor little guy. Poor me. I have no idea what to do. Should I get him off the sand? I'm very confused... pleeeeease help me If I turn on any of my pumps he just floats around.

Place it on a rock, it will eventually take hold. Once it takes hold on a rock, they may move around until they find a spot they are happy in.

Well I placed it on a rock and it took hold. Then I turned on my powerhead and it let go and blew around after 5 minutes. Then I polaced iot back on the rock again and turned off my powerhead. It took hold again, until I turned my aquarium lights off. Then it stumbled off the LR and is now hanging upside down.... I don't know what's wrong with this poor thing.

Bubble tips don't like a lot of flow, which is why it let go. I would find an area with low flow to put it on. If its on a rock it's fine. It will move around until it finds a spot its happy in.

they like holes/cracks in rocks in my experience, put them in/over one and turn off all pumps for 10 minutes. Ease them back on and make sure it's taken hold. If they float into a powerhead they are toast. Once they get a foothold they are usually good as above poster mentioned. They may roam around and sting things till they find a good home.

don't put 4 clowns in a 30 gallon IMO. I had 4 clowns in a 4' 110 gallon and they would gang up on one every 4 months or so and try to kill him. I'm down to only 2 that breed and host a huge purple long tenticle anemone. It took them a LOOOONNGGG time to host but it did eventually happen after 8+ months.
You need to have a decent light to grow at least LPS. I rarely feed mine, but they do get bits of rods reef food when the clowns bring some back to it. Your cuc wont' bother it. I did have peppermints try to eat my purple LTA but not my RBTA's.

Everyone is calling it a bubble tip, but for $9 its more likely a pink tip condylactis anemone. These are not clownfish hosts and will most likely eat your clowns. If you can, return it.

It was labeled on the tank as a "Pink Tip" so that's all I know. They had some Clarkii clowns in the tank with the Pink Tip Anemones and they all seemed to be hanging out in the anemones. I asked the guy at LFS if my false perculas would bond with it and he said they might. Didn't really say anything about it eating my fish. I'll get a pic of it here in a few and post.

Pic would be helpful, but I have to agree that it is most likely a "condy", which isn't a natural host anemone for any clown.

I have personally seen a pair of Clarkiis hosted by one of those, but never an ocellaris.

Your clowns being eaten by it would be rare, but not unheard of.

I took this picture of it last night. Since then, it has moved to the back of the tank and up along side a rock. Hidden away. I don't think it likes my circulation pump. I'm now worried about it eating my fish. If it ate my clowns I would just die. I would be a big bother in returning it, because I had returned a fiddler crab for store credit towards this anemone. I doubt they would take it back since is already a trade.

I've had Clarkii's take to condy's. never a perc or occelaris.

You will have to adjust your water flow or change up your Aquascaping I have 4 Anemone/6 clowns and they will find a place soon...the won't eat your clowns Lol

Oh I do feed my anemones a small piece of raw shrimp shell on.......yum yum once a week

Yes. I agree. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot always rely on what the guy at the LFS tells me.

Bond, is that a Pink Tip Condy as well? Looks a little different from mine. Some info I have gathered online, says that Condys have a nasty sting, can hurt other fish and some have said they eat clowns. Are you sure he won't eat my fish? man am I in nerves over that thing.

If the anemone ( Pink Tip) host the clown no other fish will be able to get close to it. The fish know to stay away.....

Oh wow very nice aquarium! I like! So do they move around often? Mine went under a rock... I can't even see it. lol I can't feed it under there and if it dies, I would never even know it.
