hey all! this is my first salt tank after years of sicklett tanks and im really excited!...my tank is a 60 gal bowfront lit by actinic blue and white t-5's. all the trates, trites, phos, ammonia are staying a steady 0 and my alk and other levels are stable. i love chemistry and perfect balance so that part is pretty simple...sorry for such a crappy pic but my camera suks! the tank is much clearer than it looks:D...anyway, like i said, im pretty stoked to be here and look forward to cramming my pea brain with the fountain of knowlegde that flows so abundantly on this forum!

Great scaping. Welcome to R2R

Looks great! Looks like you have a Blue thumb! :D

thanks everyone for the warm welcome! and the comps on my tank! i'll be sure to add new pics regularly. i cant wait to add some real nice corals and things once the time is right...before i do that, i need to make sure my maroon clown is going to stay somewhat peacefull towards the rest of its tank mates. inside is a true percula, hippo and yellow tang, lawnmower blenny, blue devil, cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp, rose bubble tip,a flame scallop and an engineer goby. then i have some leather coral, xenia, a few types of polyps, a couple mushrooms, sponge, and a rose bubble tip.....my next upgrade to the tank is going to be a better protien skimmer. at the moment, im using a visi-jet, which is doing ok for a beginner setup but not good enough for the tanks future. i also plan to add some moon lighting.

Do you have pics of your cichlid tank
i do on one of my computers, ill have to find them...it was beautiful!...i had some strange crosses...i created it just like lake malawi had real nice carpets of algae...it was a biological masterpiece...i hope to have the same fortune with salt water...my wife really wanted nemo and his pals so she picks the fish but i get to do all the scape...since the maroon is hogging the rose bubble tip, i picked up a kinda green variety with the hopes my percula will find a home in it... i also picked up some star polyp because it was perfect to make another cave...it has taken nicely and was fully opened in about 2 1/2 hours...

I really had to convince myself not to do another cichlid tank. People woud argue with me that I had a salt water tank. Not to mention the simplicity of it. But hear I am enjoying the ride.
i had the same with friends...there was so much color in it they wouldnt believe me when i said it was fresh water...ill give salt a whirl and see what i got in a year...the coraline is spreading pretty rapidly in thetank. ive been taking a soft tooth brush and brushing the heavy areas to get the spores up into the water. it seems to be working very well!

just wanted to post some picks with a slightly better camera...the lights just came on so some stuff isnt fully opened
