I just bought a medium yellow tang 3 days ago & he’s been swimming all over the tank & hides pretty often when I’m near it. I haven’t been able to get it to eat anything, it hasn’t even gone anywhere near the seaweed clip either that I put out this afternoon. I redid some of my aqua scaping while I was fragging some coral today so he has more swimming room through rocks now. He’s pretty active against the glass around the tank, but I’m still a bit worried since he won’t eat yet. I’ve given frozen mixed food, slow floating pellets & seaweed with no luck. Any suggestions, is this normal behavior when introduced to a new tank?

I’d rubber band the nori to a rock, veggie clips take time for wild fish to get used to eating from.
You could try live brine shrimp, ROE or even a clam.
Best wishes.

hi try flake to get it started :)

You may want to try another type of seaweed to entice him...this sounds crazy but my scopas tang absolutely refuses green nori but always eats the red! Garlic or food with garlic as an ingredient can help stimulate their appetites too.

I use red nori (or 2 little fishes/Julian Sprung purple seaweed) and PE Mysis 2mm size, and they love the mix

Try feeding then walk away so he/she doesn't see you. This worked for me with my first tang.

At first they would ignore it then after one of the clownfish nipped at it that’s all it took for all of them to want. Now I just drop a piece of the Green nori in the tank letting it float. Looks like a pack of lions on fresh kill.
