Been cycling tank for a week now and all tests looking good . But having trouble with the temperature set heater to 25c but has been as high as 28c until I took the light out and the temperature went down to 26.7c so i ordered a set of lid risers to give the tank more air . Is this normal and what is the perfect temperature , I live in the u.k and didn't think the temperature would be a problem.

anything from 23 to 26 is acceptable. Some lights can create a heat issue for the tank.

You can get a small fan to blow across the surface of the water, it brings the temp down a few degrees. Also get more agitation on your water surface, that will help gas exchange as well.

There is no perfect temperature, but rather a range that aquarists have found works well.

I'd say 90% of reef aquarists have their reef aquariums somewhere between 24 - 27 C with the majority around 25.5 C (which is what I use). Going to either extremes in this range can work, but the danger is that if the heater malfunctions (either stops working or starts to increase temperature), there is a lot less time for you to catch it before animals suffer damage.

If you don't have one already get a heater controller. I won't have a tank without one. I recommend inkbird

This should knock out 3 or 4 deg C from your temperature:
