So I have installed a Durso in the overflow of a new build. It is my first time using a Durso and I like how it works. But I am having a difficult time getting it dialed in. I've included a video below so you can see as I explain.

I could use some guidance.
Thank you
Dom

Flow rate is likely greater as you said at pump. Slow down pump flow and see what happens
The top of pipe- Does it have a hole with tube or fully capped?
Is there a strainer on bottom of elbow to prevent snails from getting sucked in to plumbing ?
I built a durso in December from scratch and my tank is dead silent

I can’t see the video. Maybe host it on YouTube. Is it going full siphon then gurgling when the water level drops below the 90? Do you have a bleed valve on top?

Actually, the flow rate OUT seems greater than the flow rate in to me.

Yes, the top of the pipe is capped off and I can try and dial in the flow out by changing the size of the opening.

I do have a strainer in place to keep out critters.

And yes, it is dead silent when I get it dialed in, but I'm constantly having to make adjustments.

Doesn't work in Safari. I tried converting it, but still no good. If you watch it in FireFox, it works.

Yep! This is exactly what I was thinking of doing. Do you find that you must constantly make adjustments to the valve?
No. The water level in the overflow boxes never varies more than a quarter inch. In fact I was able to remove both valves and just left the 3/8 RO adapters on top.

You will need a hole in the ver

top with a rigid tube or level will keep dropping- it’s known as a siphon break

Really interesting to read you got a single drain durso to be dead silent. I’ve tried reducing flow, shortening the depth of drain pipe in the sump, and adding airline tubing in top cap and while I have reduced much of the noise I’ve never gotten it to be “dead silent”.

I may try the rigid tubing on mine I tried soft airline last time and as you said it just flushed the overflow box. Sorry not my thread but you’ve peaked my curiosity because I’ve always been annoyed from the noise of my durso lol.

Here is a pic as best as I could take of my unit:
Looks like later i'll have to remove algae from top of pipe

Yup sure enough the rigid tubing killed the noise but the hole in end cap is tad too large and the tubing won’t sit in place. I’m using a running band to hold it right now was curious how you have it attached?

I used exact size drill bit to the tube and placed a bead of silicone around tube. If you do the same- the tube will be secure and salt-creep free

Awesome thank you so much I really am shocked the gurgling is completely gone lol.

Dom my apologies I really didn’t mean to hijack your thread hopefully some of this helped with your durso issues as well!

Like I said- My tank is dead silent

So, the problem looks to be solved. The solution came in the form of an air inlet valve from an old protein skimmer...

Can anyone provide a link to how a Durso works?
