Hello all. I bought a new camera and I’ve been learning how to use it and I wanted a place to share some of my photos. I am also on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/reefer_dan?igsh=cjRvcnkwbm41bXdo&utm_source=qr), but thought this could be nice to have it all in one place. Today I just made a watermark/logo, so also excited by that. Open to any feedback, etc. thanks and hope you enjoy!

Thank you. It’s a Canon R8. Once I start feeling more proficient then I can start trying to edit photos.

Those are nice-looking pictures! I've looked into getting a Canon R8 myself! That or a Nikon Z5/6!

Those are nice-looking pictures! I've looked into getting a Canon R8 myself! That or a Nikon Z5/6!

I spent like 3 months going back and forth looking at Nikon/canon/sony and every day was a different flavor of the day as far as which I felt I should pick. I really wanted the canon r6mii, but it was out of my price range, but the r8 seemed like a fair compromise. So far I’m loving it, steep learning curve though with minimal to no prior photography experience.

Beautiful shots abd the watermark is fine as well.

Some extra photos from yesterday. Christmas tree worms have been a big challenge for me to get crisp detailed pics.

Considering posting this monti pic for the potm contest. Do you think it’s worth it or should I get a different pic?

Thank you. No, I am not. My camera goes up to 10,000K WB, then I’m tweaking warmth afterward to get the rest.

Pic heavy drop. Decided to start tryin my hand at using a better photo editing program than the iPhone photos app. Wayyyyyyy more accurate representations due to better white balance.

Hoping to save up to eventually buy a computer so I can use Lightroom and photoshop like the pros lol.

As usual, open to any feedback or tips.

Here were a few more I thought I uploaded but apparently didn’t. Unfortunately some reflections in the full tank shot, so I need to try and fix that for the next time I do a tank shot.

A couple questions for anyone out there —
1) any idea how to minimize these reflections for full tank shots?
2) any idea how to get greater magnifications/details on coral pictures in addition to a macro lens?

Thanks, I actually have one of those! I haven’t taken pictures using my new camera with it yet, but I am hoping to get the extra long version just for the extra length of safety.
