My friend and his forced tank...

hello,
My friend had a roommate move out and has left his tank behind. He keeps saying he's gonna come get it. Long story short... My friend is approaching the 3 month mark...So he's deciding keep it or get rid of it. It's a drilled tank not sure of size or lights. He sent me these pics tonight...
The water is cloudy you can barely see the fish. There's no coral in tank.
Here's pics of the tank any help would be grately appreciated...I dont know any water parameters...I will be stopping by there in the next day or so to test the tank.
To me the pic of the sump looks like the water is stagnate...he says theres a film on top of that water and it doesnt move. So I dunno

milky white water could mean a bacterial bloom the skimmer should be removing a lot of it but it can hurt the fish by consuming all the oxygen... that is one possible issue but it could be something else... the sump does look like the water is stagnant and you need to check the return pump to see if its working properly...

Will check that...was thinking about taking a bag of carbon with me. figured it couldnt hurt it...

I know my friend over over feeds the fish....says one is aggressive and gets all the food and others have none.
So I told him asap cut back how much he feeds...his g/f says he feeds enough for a week in a day. She knows that cause she has goldfish...lol

In 1st pic why is the white filter stuff around the pipes where its drilled at on both sides?

The white filter stuff is most likely for noise reduction. And I for sure see a clown trigger, so it's a fowlr system. He's likely the one eating all the food. The other pic is of a tang of some sort. I couldn't guess the type without a clearer pic.

There won't be any clean up crew in the tank. Wonder if there's even live rock. The Skimmer looks way undersized for the bioload though.

If the sump hasn't been running do not turn it back on with that water in it. It needs to be drained and replaced with good salt water before putting back in use.

If possible I would suggest finding what the salinity is at and doing some water changes to start for a couple weeks. And then go from there.

1st photo is a clown trigger - the aggressive one
2nd photo- looks like it may be a chocolate tang....kind of hard to be sure since the water is cloudy and the head is turned.

I agree with what was stated above i would not turn the sump pump on if it is off currently, clean that out replace with good water and make sure all equipment is working... and do water changes on the main display... If the trigger is eating all the food maybe feed a sheet of nori algae to the tang and separately feed the trigger smaller amounts.....
