My fun day yesterday. Seam leak :(

Woke up yesterday to all the water on the floor (RedSea 300xL) and the fish (Foxface, Chromis, Blenny, and Filefish).. gasping for water… Thankfully I got them out and into other tanks (garage storage for the win) and so far, so good… just checked on them at 3am pst

Got to love the viscosity (I think I am using that word correctly) of particle board.

RedSea Stand stood up to the test... Kitchen not so much.

Corals, shrooms, zoas.. pretty much toast.

House still smells like a tide pool

Got the house cleaned… today is moving the leaking BAS**RD. to the graveyard.. err.. garage,

Did I say my wife is awesome.

I don’t think I will ever go rimless again. This was a rehome… it has been setup for about 11 months at my house… tank age is about 3 years old… level was checked about 3 months ago… tank was on a tile floor.

Ya front seam gone .. no notice.. I hand an old ELSO tank that was developing a seam leak and got this one to replace it. No warning on this one.. whole front seam blew.. I will take a pic before I tear it down today.

Any tank can potentially do this but I've heard too many stories about Red Sea tanks having issues for me to consider ever owning one.

I dont want to blame redsea.. they are really a good setup.. or any other "system" if it matters when setting up new.

For me personally I think rimless tanks are awesome. Just cant be moved once setup. Millage my very.

For me Reef/Salt wise ...
Not going out on one of my passions.. just re-thinking it a bit.

This is why I got the Max S650 tank. Its braced and not rimless. The tank is maybe 4 years old and im the 3rd owner and the seams and seals look crisp still.
I agree rimless look awesome but I wouldnt trust it on anything really over 30-40 gallons.

just reading this after posting myself ! Same tank same issue.
redsea xl300 leaking from seam at the bottom front !!

I’m so ticked about this and loosing confidence in redsea ..
Before I got this tank I heard redsea is the best but now I think redsea tanks are best avoided !
You don’t want hundreds of litres of sea water on the floor in your house !!!

I don't get why they seem prone to leaks.

There is nothing inherently flawed in the design and the tank and adhesive can handle the little pressure that exists.

it must simply be a bad batch of adhesive.

Scary to hear this as I’m xl300 owner.
They have 5 years warranty so contact them. I think it will be fair if they reimburse you all your loss.

I was a re-home (used tank) Bought it from original owner.
