I'm using a BRS carbon/GFO reactor and I mix the carbon and GFO together. After about a week there is hardly any water running through the reactor, I assume because it bricked up. How can I prevent this? GFO costs too much to replace weekly

Not sure if the brs reacter use sponges but maybe give them a rinse? My vertex reactors would clog in a week and it would up being the sponge i was using to keep the media in place

Yeah it has a sponge above and below the media. I rinsed them out really well during my last media change and it again lasted about a week. Any solutions to this problem or better reactors?

What's the ratio of GFO to GAC? In this case you need to mix these media's at a rate of about 3 or 4 parts GAC to 1 part GFO to keep the GFO from binding to itself. I would also run the reactor in reverse to keep the media from tumbling, and GFO from grinding the GAC into dust.

Yeah I run .5 cups of GFO to 1.5 cups of carbon. I run it forwards currently but there doesn't seem to be much movement in the media.

Sounds like your pumping "raw" tank water into the reactor. try sourcing your reactor water supply post filter socks/skimmer.
