I don’t have much info to go by; but with only that type of info, my guess would be that your rocks have stopped leaching phosphates, or has reached a low equilibrium, and now the algae isn’t being “fed”. Only a guess…

i have had to dose phosphate to keep it up rock never leeched any

i have 3* torches 1* scoly 1* snail that is all that is in the tank

Trace element depletion is a possible reason.

Do you dose trace elements? How much and how often do you change water?

Combination of factors, perhaps your tank is maturing and it’s time for coralline algae to take over the niche.
Are you unhappy or just curious?
you must be doing something right, unless you are aiming for GHA tank?

i need to my nitrates are rising all the time i don't know why i bought live rock and think something died in the rock so i do a water change get them down to like 40 2 days later they jump back up to 60 testing with hanna i have 3 packs of regents and every single 1 of them read the same

rather just do a water change rather than dosing chemicals that have a chance to tick off a £1000 torch a £700 torch and a £350 torch

Water changes are effective in lowering Nitrates, but expensive, time consuming and short acting. Your tank would be ideal candidate for carbon dosing ( vinegar, vodka, proprietary solution or biopellets)

would dosing vineegar and vodka not pee my torches off they we're not cheap £2050 for 3 torches

Just to be clear, GFO is not for nitrates.

think something has died in the rock i got live rock i get it down to 40 2 days later it is back up to 60
