i bought one hammer at my local lfs 3 weeks ago and i feel like he’s not extending out normally. any tips on these guys? i also included a picture of my frogspawn that has great extension l, especially when the lights are on full blast.

sal: 35ppt
alk: 7.5
calc: 500 (working on balancing these guys out and aiming for 8-9dkh and 420-450)
no3: 2ppt. (dosing kno3 daily to raise)
po4: keeps bottoming out, dosing kpo4, not running any gfo
flow: 40 gal breeder with 2 mp10 operating at 60-70% reef crest
lighting: 2x retro fit 24” t5 led blue plus, mars aqua 300watt. 60-70% blue led lights only from 6am- 5pm, t5 and white led running at 10-20% from 9am-3pm.
skimmer is not working right now, but i don’t plan on using it for a while
removed filter socks to help raise nutrients
refugium has chaeto and marine block and lots of live rock. 20 gallon sump.

Maybe it doesn’t like the flow where it’s at? That would be my first guess. Next would be lighting. Mine are tucked away in dimmer parts if the tank with less flow hitting them and they seem to do well. I know they can tolerate more, but they seem fluffier in a lower flow area.

Really I thought they liked to be blasted with flow? Maybe that’s why mine don’t open up as well?

Don’t blast with flow, at least not in the beginning. It’ll get used to it eventually but all of my euphyllia extend much more when there’s no flow.

It looks good to me. With hammers somtimes it takes a wail to open up. Has it eaten yet?
