my harlequin shrimp going starfish riding

the little guy's been feeding on asterina, so i think he was a bit surprised when he came upon this choc. starfish suddenly. he sorta stood still for a good minute or two before going after it...:hammer:

i love these guys and i wish i knew so much more about'em. all i know right now is that they eat starfish...lol.

nice, i got one recently also.

he's also pretty small, but i see him spearing little asterina star fish all the time and parading around with them in this grasps.

i'll be getting him a big meal here soon though, kinda funny.

they are uber adorable...besides the fact that he tries to spear me when my hand's in the tank i wish i had a sump where i can keep several choc. starfish alive and just propagate one of'em legs every few weeks rotating. sorta feel bad sacrificing the whole thing just to be eaten but oh wells...=\

hey maybe what's been eating ur zoas are those asterinas? maybe u got a bad strain...are your zoas still being consumed even after the harlequin?

thats why i got the harlequin, to rid those star fish just in case...only had him 2-3weeks, so he's still got plenty of work to do.

FAVORIT pic I have is a pair one on the gravel the other upside down under a cup coral both with a brittle star leg in hand, GRR. That is OK like ya said they are cute! I knew what I was getting into when I bought it LOL
I hear you can go to some LFS aand when they get in bad shipments of linckias that look tick poor when they come in he freezze the arms and sell 'em for the Harliquins? I hope ya'll know what linckia look like when they come in bad there is noe stoping there death IMO, so it is not as if they are buying them to kill!

Hmm.. I really like that idea. Next time I'm around the stores, I'll ask them if they have any bad linkia shipments. Freezing the legs is a great idea. One thing though;;

I heard that harlequins don't hunt down brittle stars because they lack the "tube feet" that harlequins eat from the starfish? I never had the balls to try one because the last brittle star I had was this gorgeous red brittle star and didn't really want to risk it. True/False?
