I had such clarity in my dream that when I had awoken I went to Home Depot to buy lumber and started finishing off my basement that very day.

I had planned on doing this for awhile, but decided I wanted my new bedroom to have a fish tank showing in the bedroom, and the other side to show to the backside of a theater room. It's very challenging to have both sides of a tank look like it's the front with an 18" wide tank.

I'm doing 100% of the work myself from the walls, electrical, to the paint. The downside is that the wife limited me to a 90 gallon, but being my third system I find tanks of this size easy to maintain anyway.

I wanted this tank to get started as soon as possible, as it's started with 100% frags, some cut from my other systems. I figure by the time the basement project is completed the tank and frags will be mature enough to look decent. As of now I'm the only one down there.

I currently have about 30 sps frags, all but 2 originated from battlecorals, 20 species of zoeanthids, and 5 acans all originating from cherry corals. Each specifically selected as I realize room will be a factor.

Everything has went well with very minor hiccups. It's full triton now, and has been nearly 2 months since my last water change.

I'll update as my frags mature and things fill in.

Scott,
I'm all in and would love to tag along. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product, and some of those nice frags ;)

I was fortunate enough to find a small purple and powder blue to add at the same time to eliminate aggression. And got the snowflakes to host. So far the anemone has stayed put over several months now, which I was a little worried about. I may upgrade my upstairs tank over the next few years and move fish around as needed.

(lol)
I've got a pbt and purple tang too.

IMG_5738.JPG IMG_5798.JPG 100% aquacultured corals, waiting to be placed. Each species of Zoe's will be on their own rubble island on the bottom. I won't make the mistake of gluing frags to the rocks again, as they have taken over the rocks on one of my other tanks.

They are my two favorite tangs for sure. Out of every fish I've ever owned including triggers I've found the purple to be the biggest prick of all. I also have one in my work 110 gal.

Things have progressed more. Im pleased. I'm starting on the bar which will be 10' long in front of the tank in the wall tomorrow. With the light fixture being so bright I need to felt the gap to block some light coming through the cracks. As of today:

This is the same view about a year ago after I built the bedroom and storage room behind. I've done most everything myself. Including getting rid of the wife's crap!

A few more updates. With all the drywall dust etc there has been some contamination causing a few corals to go, sps, but only a few. The construction got pretty rough at one point with air quality, but back on track now. Roughly 50 frags, but hard to see.

Projector/surround sound is working in front of the tank too now :). I need theater seats yet, and to finish the bar/table to eat at.

The back pic is from the future bedroom. It's very hard to do the tank rockwork in an 18" wide tank to make it look like both sides are the front side! Bedroom side still needs trimmed around the tank yet.

And lastly my filtration for the upstairs tank and enclosed with doors. Quiet thankfully. And also my downstairs tank filtration/storage room. I fee bad for people that have to cram this stuff under the tank.

Great work! I'm not handy at all and am jealous of your construction. Sure helps to have a wife on board!

Thank you. Interestingly enough, lol, the wife fought the whole project. She didn't want the basement done, wanted to move to a different house. Limited me to a 90 gallon tank. It would have been done quicker if she hadn't fought me for the last year. Screw moving, I have this one about how I want it. With two tanks moving all that is a pain. I've been through that before.

Ha! I'm sure she will be thrilled with it once completed...if she's anything like my wife, the construction mess is what's driving her crazy. My wife has a problem seeing the end game, but there has to be some "mess" to get to that point.

My other hobby is Audio/Video. What size screen is that and what gear are you using? I like the cut of your Jib, I'm a DIY'er as well.

I'm gonna guess 120".

Im kind of learning as I go. I went with a Denon receiver and definitive technology 7.1 surround set up. 800 fronts and 600. It sounds Ok. The projector is the Epson home cinema 4000 4K enhancement. Without having to spend five grand plus on a projector it's a pretty good compromise I'd say. The sky is the limit when it comes to that sort of thing. But I can tell you I'd rather be in my basement watching TV then in the theater!

That's a pretty good guess. I'm not sure what the vertical is, probably around 72, and I don't know what the diagonal is, but the horizontal is 10'5". I have not bought the screen for the wall yet for a few reasons. One of them because it's a lot clearer than what I had anticipated just on the drywall. Secondly if I bought that 120 inch screen I would lose a little bit of screen size. I was fighting the distance of the HDMI cable versus where I wanted to place the projector versus losing some of the angle due to the way my ceiling is shaped. You can see what I mean in this pic. I wanted to get the projector as far back as I could while being over top of the four-person hightop table that I'm building so it was out of the way without losing the top of the picture from being cropped off at the ceiling angle.
