My name is Chris I live in a costal town called Swansea in south Wales United Kingdom I am 58 years old and have kept marine fish and corals since my late teens
So I’m from a time when bigger was better, and equipment was under gravel filters calcium plus gravel tidy and 4 inches of crushed coral sand, skimmer heater and air pump bobbin hydrometer and 3 to 6 months to cycle a tank

how things have changed lol, I have also worked in my local aquatic stores from leaving school until I got an apprenticeship and became a mechanical engineer working for my local water company repairing pumps that pumped 3 tons of water a second, I later on became a gas engineer which is what I currently do for a living
I am currently building my new fish room so what stock I have at the moment are in temporary tanks so not much to see at moment
But my systems when rebuilt are two racks of 6 x 32” 15” 20” for my clown breeding and my reef system which is two tanks on a single sump 48” 24” 30” and a 72” 24” 24”

when I finish my rebuild I will post pictures for anybody interested

I'm interested to see this build! I am currently studying mechanical engineering! I hope it will help me in building everything I'd like to have for my tanks

Tom Hanks Hello GIF
Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome, and something I forgot to mention is the reason why I am building a new fish room after 22 years in the old one
And it’s electricity well cost of it here in the UK anyway, being an heating engineer gas is a third of the cost so I have spent a lot of money insulating the new fish room and plan to heat the room with wet central heating instead of each tank, and replace older equipment with more eco versions and hopefully this will justify carrying on a hobby that’s been a major part of my life or I could just have one tank in the house
