hope he takes care of unreachable hair algae..

acclimated this guy for almost 6 hours..

we'll see if he does good for me.. I'm kinda excited about him being in a saltwater tank.. talked to a guy in petco and he said he's got about 5 black mollies in his tank.. he said that they have been doing a good job on hair algae and been in his tank for couple of months... wish me luck..

Good luck Marvin.....I wonder how they would do with macro? That would be a great way toget rid of it, most fish that will eat it also nip polpys except for Tangs and I don't really want to add a tang.....Keep us posted.

I just put a group of silver sailfins (2 males/4 females) in one of my prop tanks that grows allot of feather calurpa. Haven't seen allot of lawnmower action yet, but we'll see longterm. Good luck with your marble. Definitely a nice cheap way of algae control if they work.

just becarefull of having them in youre tank mollies tend to get ick just watch them my dad years ago had them in his saltwater tanks and they did very well but just watch the ick

a local reefer has tried the same thing with a few in his fuge to eat algae, and they are breeding now, providing his tank with some food.

Pretty sure mollies need to be in fw to breed, Could be wrong though.
Mollies preffer FW.

no they are uryhaline to the point of being able to breed in both fresh and saltwater, infact a lot of mollies dont do well unless there is some "salt" in the water anyhow-especially wild ones.

I am sure a little salt in their tank is nec, But they are collected, and breed in fw naturally arent they?

i think they are brackish, sometimes found in salt water, sometimes in fw.

its like do you consider an atlantic salmon freshwater or saltwater? They live in saltwater but breed in freshwater-the molies live in constantly changing salinity (which is why they can adapt to different salinities so quickly)-but they breed in both fresh and salt.
