Ok, Amonia 0.....Nitrate 40....Nitrite 0....Calcium 400... Is there anything else I should be checking??
It's a 55 Gal. with live rock and sand...

Nitrates should be as low as possible...closer to 0 would be ideal.

Depending on what you are planning to keep will determine on whether you need to continue to measure calcium/magnesium. If you don't plan to keep SPS or any coral requiring calcification to build a skeleton than its not really needed.

Other parameters to check would be pH and Alkalinity.

We have 2 anamone, and a couple frags.. they tell me its called trumpet.. and the other is acan??... a yellow tailed damsel and a hippo tang

hi my levels are good except for one which is the dreaded PO4 which my red sea test kit is saying is between 0.16-0.28 ppm which is bad considering this is in my sps frag tank and i know my phophates are coming from an over due RO/DI filter change which my father thinks is fine but hes got a FOWLR predator tank and i have 2 reef tanks both with sps lps and zoa's now i bought that new PO4X$ and it seemed to be ok but i need to get my levels down fast as i got a shipment of frags in this morning and one last week and i know that PO4 is bad cuz one of my green acro frags which i got months ago when it was brown turned green well it is now brown again and i have invested alot of money as most of us hobbiests do into my sps frag tank..any help would be great..also i have no nitrates that are readable and my Alk is at 8DKH and calc is at 420 ppm, PH is 8.2 salinity is at 0.025 taken with refractometer and my tank is a 55 gallon long BB with a wet/dry protein skimmer and just threw the TLF reactor on this morning oh and my lighting is a coralife fixture with 2 150watt MH DE 14K pheonoxes pardon spelling and i recently added a 24" strip of deep water blue LED by Tru Lumen Pro which is their new ones as the olds were proven not to affect coral growth and i eventually wanna switch to all LED as in my 90 gal and add a refugium sump as in my 90 gal. but any help on phosphates that wont kill harm new frags fish inverts cuz i got a buunch of shrimp that would be great thanks.

How long has your tank been running? Your nitrate is high for only having live rock and sand. Got fish in there?

Nitrates can be lowered by:

Reducing feedings (feed only as much as neccesary so extra food isn't lying around on the sand bed)
More frequent water changes
Heavier skimming (wet skim)
Carbon

Yes, you'll want to put the carbon where you'll get the most flow through it to be most effective.

How long has your tank been set up? Water changes are the easiest way of quickly reducing nitrates.

Also, that hippo tang will quickly outgrow your aquarium.

If you want advice on your aquarium, you should probably start your own thread. Also, try some punctuation!
