Been up since Valentine's day.. Still kinda lost at times, thank God for this site.. Lol.

My Vipar Spectra lights arrived this morning, I'm guessing they are considered budget lights.. But a big upgrade over the strip light that came with the rank from PetSmart.

The instructions were ok, but YouTube made it much easier figuring out the timers.
I really liked the cabling for hanging that was included.. Rest is gonna be wait and see I guess

Congratulations on the new lights - they should grow coral for you! I actually just got a pair of Viparspectra 165w lights this week as well and haven't set them up yet. What YouTube videos did you find the most helpful?

I just did a basic search.. There were a few up that helped with the remote.

Look pretty nice. I know many people here feel they need a corvette to do the same job, just as efficiently, as a Yugo, but, I'm curious as to what PAR levels you are getting (and what wavelength of light they work in.) I'm just starting out in the game and if these lights can get me started (zoas, LPS, gorgonians) and keep things alive, I'd prefer to go this route than $700 lights, of which Id need at least two, most likely 3...….
Keep us in tune with your "pros and cons" of these lights.

And thanks for taking the time to post.....

I would have said Toyota or similar but yugo? That's a comparison of a car that barely worked and broke down a lot, not a good analogy. Lol

I'm laughing at the Yugo reference.. Not many will get it .. They are way brighter than I expected.. What you see is running at 10%...I still am new at Coral, but pretty sure if not careful it would be easy to kill anything if careless.

But the Yugo cost like 6k brand new.. Lol

Zero to sixty in 12 minutes

The Yugo did manage to be ranked as the #1 worst car of all time, whereas the Viparspectra lights seem like a reasonable option.

A Friend at work is Yugoslavian and thoroughly believes the US bombed the factory because the car was a threat to
the US car companies :D

OOps! I forgot,
All that matters is what you like. Best of luck with your new lights and tank.

I'm gonna need it.. My clowns have been in a month and a half.. Ready to try some Coral.

Haven't seen this little dude since I add him.. Guess he likes the different spectrum.

If they do the job then they are the right lights. I run Kessil, but have very specific needs and propagate so bit the bullet and will have them pay for themselves over time. A lot of gear in this hobby is try and see. If they work for you, then they are perfect. Let us know in a few months becasue always great to know of economical options!

Will do,I'm pretty sure this hobby is gonna ramp up as I go.I'm trying to start as slow as I can,But even that is becoming a joke to my wife.We stopped into a thrift store yesterday to get stuffed animals<For our dogs to shred for fun>,Ended up with a 29 gallon freshwater tank with all the extras for $5.00.I would have just walked right by it a couple months ago:)
