My lil reef

I’ve been redirected on by Clyde when he got worked up over a delivery driver running to the front door, it was an accident on his part and a lapse in judgement on mine. It was a very quick bite and release and it put my on the floor and I went into shock, there was no fight in me. So being on the receiving end of an intentional bite would never be something I want to experience. I’d been biten once before when we were playing frisbee through the frisbee and it wasn’t much fun either. Luckily we’ve both learned from those accidents and have a better respect for each other.

Well one of my LE buddies went to NOLA to get his new Mal pup and asked me to ride with him as it was 5 hours one way drive. While we were there, the trainer was training one of his new ones and asked me if I wanted to take a bite. I took the first one and then my buddy wanted to get it on video, thats when we did the second and he drew blood on me. The trainer freaked out more than I did when I told him "hey he's got me, he's on skin not the sleeve" I wasn't freaking out at all. I wasn't afraid of the dog so I was super calm, I've been really bitten by a little mean mexican chihuahua that hurt more than what the Mal did to me Lol.

Accidents happen, to many people tho freak out and go off on the dog when it was just that, an accident. Live and learn, respect is key when handling dogs of that nature.

I’ve got a G43, I love it, great pocket gun, or backup. I mostly carry a G19 with a trijicon RMR these days, unless it’s nighttime then I carry a G19 with a flashlight and iron sights because the flashlight washes the dot out and I personally find iron sights faster to find in the dark with the flashlight. Concealed carry is all that’s available here in Florida so that’s what I‘m most comfortable with.

yea this new Sig p365 has sights I've never seen before, calls them Flush-Mounted FT Bullseye Fiber-Tritium Night Sight. Its almost like a red dot thats just flush mounted. No front sight. I rented it yesterday and was blown away by how fast the target acquistion was with it and I have a competition .22 LR with a red dot. So that sold me and I bought the Sig, tho who knows when it will actually come in with all thats going on right now. Told my range that I wasn't worried, I'd get it when I get it. Going to take my CCW course with my VP9 anyways.

Yeah can’t fault the dog for doing his job and making a mistake! It was an error in judgement on both of our parts in my case, my fault for getting between him and the threat while he was amped up. It scared him more than it scared me, but I physically couldn’t do anything anyway, my body shut down. It took me a good 15 mins to catch my bearings lol

Yea if you have ever seen what a police dog does to someome who runs/resists, its not pretty. I have 4 years till retirement then I can get a dog again lol.

I’ve looked at that and it’s intriguing to me, you’ll have to let me know what you think after you’ve run with it a bunch

Glock is my favorite carry gun. Love the gov's too but I can shoot the glock with my eyes closed lol.
I have hunted with the Freedom arms since 89.
The first true hand cannon. It has 4 digit serial number and I have had it scoped, did not like that, c-moore site made it unreal, it is now iron sited for backup as many shots are a long ways off now a days.

I started liking glocks when the gen 4‘s came out because they made the grip angle the same as 1911’s and that’s what I shot best, and amazingly it’s transferred over to the glocks, so now they are my goto these days. Much more carefree and easy to maintain can’t beat the capacity over a single stack 1911 too. Never had an issue with any of them and that’s the most important thing to me.

For sure! I'm excited to get it. Gives me a good reason to give the wife for going to the range more Lol. I'm also considering doing a advanced training course with it after I put probably 1-2k rounds through it. Those scenario training courses. Cause this is my planned concealed gun. I obviously could conceal the VP9 if I wanted to, but I just don't see the point in trying to conceal a full size handgun when so many more comfortable and reliable sources exist. Just a humble opinion, no fault to anyone doing it with a full size, more power to you! lol

You can beat the heck out of a Glock for sure and will run with no problems. Whereas I've had a M&P Shield stovepipe and FTF on me so much and it was in tip top shape, well cared for. I'm just not a glock guy. She loves her's though!

I also like that I can make my own wood grips for my 1911’s since I’m a woodworker. (Excuse to post pictures)

I have a s&w model 340 pd that I slip in my short pants in the summer. The 357 is a small cannon as I would most likely only need one round up close. Super loud and with laser sight its rather accurate at distance.

My glock is my pillow gun.
Come on in lol.

I’ve recently gained a fondness for wheel guns and I think that’s going to be where my future collecting heads. Less for self defense and more for enjoyment’s sake. I really enjoy big bore calibers and want to head in that direction.

Um Wow. I see your skills in reefing transfer over to your woodworking as well!!! That second one grips are soooo awesome. How are they as actual grips?? Texture wise, etc.

Heh .357 you only need half a round LOL. Blow a hole pretty good size for sure! I'm not a big caliber guy. Quite happy with 9mm, will do the job for sure :)

They’re hand “scraped” and finshed in tung oil, so they aren’t smooth, they’ve got very good tactile feel to them even though they look refined. I really like them, that’s amboyna burl. Though it usually wears the all black Gaboon Ebony grips up top. They’re all the same finish so they aren’t slippery at all.

Answered my question perfectly! Slippery would have been my number 1 concern. Heh you should make and sell some of those, you could make a killing! I'm not into 1911's anymore, Had a beautiful 64' Colt Commander 2 back in the day, but it was a safe queen, Im of the mindset anymore that any guns I own are for practical use as I can't afford that as a hobby + this one! lol

Yeah I’m pretty much done collecting in both actually. I’ve now moved on to acquiring glass blowing equipment and that stuff makes gun collecting and reef keeping look like budget activities lol. So most of my reef keeping hobby is helping others on here and maintaining/watching my tank. My gun collecting ceased several years ago when I stopped needing anything practical, though there’s always room for “one more” here and there. It’s not a sleeping dog I’m anxious to wake again though. It certainly hasn’t become more affordable in the last several years.

No it has not, saw a Skeletor AR-15 setup at my range last month that was $2500 and it was bare bones. Just nuts. It did look cool, but $2500 cool, um no ty.

Glass blowing, GL with that. I've got to watch some documentries and shows on the history channel regarding that hobby. Thats intense and alot of work. Can get some really cool pieces if you do it right, definitely not for me though lol.

It’s definitely a brutal art, it’s a dream I’ve chased for a long time and something that seems to fit me to a T, It’s a highly technical skill with tons of chemistry and science with Art thrown in, and those are all things I enjoy and excel at so I think it’s going to be a good fit. Getting all the equipment and things up an running has been a real financial and logistical challenge. But it’s all starting to come together and once I’m up and running it will be completely sustainable. (I’ve got an on demand oxygen system to produce my own nearly pure O2). So it’s going to be a good journey I think. The whole COVID-19 thing has pushed my build out a bit but I’m still going to be ok, I think. Hopefully soon I can get back on track. But I’ll get there eventually. I’ve been working on this for a couple years now, so I’ll be excited to get up and running. Probably won’t leave the studio but to sleep after I do LOL. Fingers crossed!

Glad I have all I need lol.
Could always use one more though.
But your right everything is bucks up now.
My freedom arms 454 is $2500 now new, what?
I have many from the gun show days. You walked in and walked out with what you wanted. The way it should be.
Living in CA im surprised you can still buy them anymore.
The non lead hunting restrictions are well, dont get me started.
