I currently have a 180gl mixed reef with a 40gl sump and since I set that system up in knew that I was going to join the big tank club, I looked in the forums, Craigslist, the classifieds, FB, and I couldn't find anything that I liked and I didn't want to spend a ton of money in the tank nor wait 4 to 6 months to have someone build it, until one day my friend Matt D. called me and told me about a guy in Vero beach selling a tank, so he called him and talked to him and he made a deal over the phone, the next day we recruited Matt J. And we drove up to Vero Beach to see the tank (I wasn't expecting much). Wen we got there is was pleasantly surprised about the condition of the tank, no cracks or big scratches on the acrylic.

So now I'm going to sand it down and Polish it and I'm thinking about removing the dual overflows and making a coast to coast overflow.

I was going to use a 250 acrylic tank as a Macro tank but now that I got the big tank I'm going to use it as a sump.

I have more acrylic to buff out.......lol.

Congrats on the find and upgrade. Signing up to follow a fellow Floridian's progress.

Very nice find! I can say by experience that while buffing is no fun, the results are totally worth it. I felt a bit more connected afterwards.

Finally made some room in the garage and started working on the 250gl sump, I still don't know exactly how I'm going to partition it but at least I'm working on it. I'm going to work on it only 3 hrs a night, so I'm hoping to be buffing by monday.

Well I ran in to a problem with the tank's location. I knew that it wouldn't fit through the front door so I had to take down some parts of my screen enclosure and go through the triple sliding glass doors and it goes in to the Family room witch that's where I have my current tank. The plan was to install the new tank on the next room ( the living room that we never use) and I was planning on keeping the old tank running. The problem is that in order to get to the living room you have to make a 90°turn and the hallway is 48" wide and in order to make the turn with a 92"x36" Tank I would have to remove 18" off the doorway.
Or I get rid of the old tank and put the new tank in the same spot.

I'm playing around with sump design ideas I'm probably going to sketch a couple more and see witch would work best.

Ok.....impulse buy.....I've been reading about DC vz AC pumps and it hit me, I pulled the trigger.

I still need a chiller, reactors, dosing containers, lights, controlable auto feeder, automatic water change pumps and containers. I think that's all...
