My low tech peninsula 55 gallon adventure

You weren't the only one to buy too many at the swap lol Looks like a nice selection!

Who has a problem? Are you saying we have a problem? I don’t have a problem. 12 frags with no clear plan where to put them all is definitely not a problem.

A problem? Shooooute lol
I don't feel so bad now. I only picked up 8 frags at the swap and managed to stay $15 under budget. My sandbed is littered with plugs now.
My problem is I told the wife no more corals for a while, but I just won a $50 GC to one of our local reef stores lol

Nice build! I too have a sumpless tank at the moment. My 40B is in a guest room and the wife asked me to set it up to be quiet. I have used sumps on previous tanks and they get kind of loud. I have a Tidal 55 HOB on mine and it is virtually silent. I also run a large canister filter.

What skimmer are you running?

SPS adventure has begun. One week in. So far so good?

Aquatic Life 115. I do everything as cheap as possible lol. (Except my doser, which I didn’t want to worry about.)

Dude I only learned about those little guys a few months ago. Now I want a rockflower nem pico tank.

We'll, I look forward to seeing you fill that tank up with them first!
Most local stores either don't have them or they aren't that nice. Discover did just get some pretty good ones in fyi

Three months out from the frag swap and 100% coral survival! A first for me. They even all made it through a 3 week bubble algae treatment.

really nice corals! Almost exact what I am planning to put into my 50 gallon :) We even have same zoas :)

Currently battling aiptasia after successfully knocking back bubble algae with fluconazole. This hobby feels like one pest battle after another! Luckily no coral lost so far, and there are 4 peppermints in the tank now.

They ate all the aiptasia I dropped into their test tank for a week. They’ve been in the main tank for two weeks now and haven’t made any noticeable difference. I’m giving them another week before I order berghias.

Aiptasia Update: The peps haven’t made a dent. Going to get them out and replace them with berghias.

In other news, I switched from Tropic Marin Pro to Synbiotic salt and from Seachem two-part to All for Reef. This gets me probiotic, carbon, calcium, alk and full spectrum trace element dosing with just water changes and one dosing pump.

The coral that have not been hotboxed by aiptasia really seem to love it. The red Goni is so big now that it ate my poor alveopora while I was out of town.
