Not sure what did him in. Only had it 3 days. Seemed to be eating pods from my DT while it was in QT. Was using TTM. He died after making the first transfer to a 2nd tank....in which I dosed 1st round of Prazi. He didn't survive the night. Any idea what did it?

Are you sure you got the Prazipro dosage right (1 teaspoon per 20 gals)? I goofed up one time and dosed 1 tablespoon per 20 gallons.

Also, did you increase gas exchange after you dosed Prazipro? It will deplete oxygen from the water.

+1 Agree^, prazi is tricky medication, whenever I use it I try to be on the lower side of the dose and provide plenty of oxygen. Also recently I started to dose it few hours before transfer rather than keeping it in the tank because it seems to deplete oxygen no matter how much oxygen or flow you add.

I doubled the dosage recommendation on the bottle... but no more than that. His tank was being oxygenated by an airstone during the whole affair [emoji27]

I think I'll heed all these words next time. Thank you!

Ammonia and overdosing are good guesses at the culprit I agree. The reality is that mandarin are not a beacon of hardiness. Beautiful fish though and I am sorry for your loss :(

He was only in there for two days, so I don't think so

If you didn't check the ammonia then it's impossible to say for sure, but ammonia can build up very quickly in a QT even in just two days.

You doubled the prazi dosage on the bottle? This seems like it could be the culprit or at least a major contributing factor. You don't want to increase the amount of prazi that you dose. If you adjust anything add a little less than the bottle calls for as a safety precaution.
