Hello all. I thought it would be kinda fun to share some light settings from my maxspect ethereal led light. I’ve got 3 over my 6’ 120 gallon. I’m getting 330-360 par at the top rock, 200-230 middle and 150-180 in the sand.

What is the distance you have from the water to the lights? And how have they been performing? I have 3 as well across a 6 foot tank. How far apart did you space them from each other. I'm just curious. I am currently running the BRS AB+ setting, but quite frankly, not sure I like it and is best for my goals, which is mostly SPS dominant. I do have 2 softies in there and those I feel don't give a dang, they just grow. But my others, they are more finicky.

So I actually tried the brs settings and i didnt like them either, it was way to blue for me. So with the settings i shared and with the lights 6” off the water and 2.5” apart i was getting 330-360 par up top and like 220- 250 on the sand bed per the syneye par meter. My SPS did really good actually but my lps weren’t looking the best due to the high light par levels. So currently im running them the same height from the water but i adjusted the channels more for a mixed reef. Ill share my settings agains if you would like to try them out.

If that isnt enough light i would leave the whites where they are but turn up the blues to maybe 85-90 and that should he good for your sps and softies.

I'm gonna change it. I probably shouldn't as the tank inhabitants aren't doing too well. But I feel that before I changed to AB+, the tank was doing better. Mind you its probably been over 1.5 years ago. Or whenever they first published that video. With that said tho, I swear I tested ALK daily, then every other day and then weekly and I notice no change. Yesterday I tested albeit at night and I was close to 10, 9.7 on hanna and 10 on salifert, and my corals are looking like crap. So...at this point, might as well change the lights.

Ok...so I am about 5.75" from the surface of the water. I have one light in the center and the other lights are 12" apart, measuring from the edge of the light fixture itself.

Thanks for the help. I haven't heard too many people using these lights. I personally love them and I am going to get a seneye to measure, more for peace of mind.

No worries. I personally like the lights also. I would love 4 radions but way out of my price point and these lights have done great for me. My LFS is pretty impressed with the frags i bring him as well.

The settings I sent you today are the settings i am currently running, I personally think you would like them. Let me know if you decide to run them and give me your thoughts. Also, i am running the ATI essentials program with ALK -8 , CAL-400 , MAG 1350-1400 , NITRATE 5 and PHOS 0.03 - 0.08

I will let you know for sure! Thanks for information as well.
With the ATI...how often do you water change?
I was doing about 28g every 2 weeks. But I was hoping to cut that down to maybe once a month. I started with trident and was thinking about going back to it.

oh one last question...whats your light period...I can't tell the total time.
Thanks again.

So ATI is just like trident its just cheaper, they have there own icp testing and trace element bottles. Ive had good luck with it so far. I do a water change about once a month but its more for vacuuming out my refugium since i dont run filter socks.

Its 8 hrs on with a 30 min ramp up and down.

I think I'm gonna keep it simple. I don't know why I wanted the alk to hit 9, Its always hovered around 8 to 8.5. I stopped dosing 2 part, you think it will be ok to let it drop naturally and then start again?

Yea. That should be fine

Hello. Just catching up. Any updates on your tank ? How are the lights ?

Thanks for following up. The lights seem to be working. I haven't had the chance to check the par with the seneye. I think I might need to up the intensity, but will wait until I get some par numbers.
I do have some unfortunate news. I am not sure what happened, I think I must have contaminated my tank because things started going south quickly. So after 2 consecutive weeks of 28gallon water changes things are looking better. I did loose a few pieces.
But it all started when I didn't notice that my salinity had crept up to 1.027 AND my alk had hit 10dkh. I've since then have had it at 7.8-7.9. and salinity back to 1.026.
I can tell that some of the corals are starting to bounce back. I'm going to do 2 more water changes a week apart then start the ati essentials.
Wish me luck.

I have two Ethereals on my 60x24x24 tank, started in Jan, 2019. Earlier this year, I added two 48" coral+ T5 bulbs to give a fuller light coverage. It's nice to see others that use the same lights!

Glad overall the tanks doing better. I figured you would need more light. I just put in a few more pieces that require more light so I upped the channels of the uv - 90 royal blue -90 also increased the warm white channel a little to 35
