My Melanurus wrasse going to bed @ 8pm sharp

Through programmed lighting I've been able to control this behavior. At 7:45pm my lights begin to ramp down. First the white lights reduce to zero, and then the blues. From 8pm-12am a pair of moon lights are On, which allows me to do tank stuff after the fish have gone to bed. The wrasse always goes to bed within seconds of the moonlights coming on. During the ramp down he can be watched frantically racing against the clock, picking pods off rocks. 6am the lights come on, and within a couple minutes the Melanurus is up. I'll catch a video of him emerging from the sand soon.

Love the wrasses for this. Wish my kids would adhere to schedule as well as my wrasses do.

I run my lights from 9-10 with 3 hour ramps start and end. Most of my wrasses and everyone else are up for the duration. But most every wrasse I've gotten has had a long time acclimation period to get off far pacific time and or whatever they got used too at distributor and LFS. The most common behavior that matches times differences are the ones that don't arise until noon or so. Then of course other behaviors like getting up early and crashing hours before lights out. And yeah one of my largest is my melanurus who crashes the sand bed with a cloud of dust at bedtime.

Great video. i like how it appears to check on things prior to diving into the sand. reminds me of myself before i go to bed.... did i turn off the kitchen light? check! did i lock the front door? check! time for bed. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

My Melanurus was previously owned, supposedly became a "bully", and traded in at my LFS. This fish is no bully, and a perfect citizen IMO! My guess, the previous owner had other wrasse that brought out aggression in the Melanurus, or had lack of knowledge in some other area/s. It's had plenty of time to adjust from the Aussie/Fiji time zone. That being said, I believe an inconsistent lighting schedule can cause abnormal/inconsistent behaviorisms in fish. You can't get anymore consistant than a well run program. Anyone not running on timers/programs for their lights have any "odd" acting fish?
I'm somewhat inconsistent with feeding. I feel food in the wild can come at anytime. There are plenty of pods to pick at if they are hungry in between meals anyway. I feed at least 2 small meals a day, and 3 small meals a day on weekends.
There is also a diamond goby and firefish in this tank. The goby upkeeps a single den and the firefish crashes every night in the same den. This also is ritualistic. The firefish always makes sure to bed down in the den around 6:30-7pm. At 7pm the goby begins blocking the entrance to the den. Just before the the sunset ramp begins (7:45) the goby dives through the blocked off entrance and goes to bed.

Here is the LED program on the iPad. Few points to make. The app was never completed or has a bug for iPads. Works fine on droid phones . Except the channel B are WHITE lights, channel A are BLUE lights, and channel C are MOON lights. The iPad specific glitch is the right side of missing screen. Other than that this works slick.
Here is the channel graph. This is a heavy actinic setup I'm running under timer 1. There are three setups you can have stored. The highest whites are going on timer 1 are 5%.

Mine is early riser as well can't get him to stay out late cool how he knows when it's dark time for bed
