Why is my Mg off the Red Sea Pro scale? I titrate o.9 ml reagent to get color change. Have never dosed. Use HW reefer salt which measures 1475 last time I mixed. Is there a way to lower? Is this a huge problem?
Tank is 75/20 sump
Parameters:
34 ppm salinity
8.2 Alk
450Ca
1600 Mg
0 Nitrate
0 phosphate
Alk/Ca with Kalkwasser in ATO

I've always had high mg readings with the red sea kit. I recommend testing with a different brand to see if there's a difference

Working on getting a new kit. Only ever used Red Sea to this point

you are taking 2ml of tank water for testing? i have made that mistake before by getting 5ml like every other test calls for.

Sometimes my Red Sea Mg test is wacky. I just try again the next day.

Try soaking your red sea test vial in vinegar for a couple of hours before testing. Mine get this precipitate buildup that seems to effect the test results. I soak them for an hour or so then rinse 5 times with DI water prior to rinsing with tank water before taking my 2 mL sample for testing. I do the vinegar soak every other week.

I do use 2ml and the prescribed drop mix drop mix etc for A part. Will pick up new kit this week. New LFS opening Saturday. Finally one closer than 100 miles or ordering from BRS
