My nano

a friend gave me a 12 or 14 gallon nano and stand last week and I had planned to use it as a nusery for sea horses but after seeing how sweet your nano is it's temping to set it up as a mini reef. how hard is it to keep stable? also I am not sure if I am missing a few things like how do these little nano's skim? I think I will also need a pump? here's what it looks like. any idea's? I'm really not sure how these work:)

Thanks all! Whip1, for me doing a softy nano has been very easy. Up and running over 4 years, same 2 clownfish. Used to hardly ever change the water, now try to do about 5 gallons about every 2 months. Probably should do less more often, but I was way behind and the tank seems to like sudden 5 gallon water changes. No skimmer, standard nanocube DX. Chemi pure in the back filter area, no bioballs, sponges are in. Not much livesand, need to add a little, especially now that some new inhabitants will be arriving tomorrow. Guess who everyone...

Yasha and candy stripe pistol. lol! Think I should get 2?

Should've took a pic of em before releasing into the tank because they have been hiding since then. The yasha and shrimp both look good. Both of them jumped before going in the tank and had to be scooped off the floor. The yasha bit and held onto my finger tip, they have large mouths for their size. The shrimp was clicking like crazy, was wondering about how much damage the larger ones are capable of as I was throwing it in. This probably stressed them both out a little, so wasn't too surprised when they were nowhere to be seen today. Hope to get pics soon of the new inhabitants.

Yasha is in there somewhere... probably chillin out with that shrimp. They were acclimated before the jump and dump so pretty sure they're ok.

I have the same tank and I love it! yours is looking sick brother!! How are you getting around the whole skimming thing? its a 12g jbj right? I emailed them asking if they had a skimmer for it and they replied with a NO.

Threw this one in the nano the other day. Will get some pics once it gets situated. Hasn't found it's spot yet. It gets HUGE, almost as big as the other one. Hoping it will go all crazy in the dirty nano. Pic was taken under leds only.

Thanks. No skimming, and until recently was very lax with the water changes. Just keeping softies, so that makes it much easier. Using Chemipure Elite.
