I've tried almost every trick in the book to capture this crab but it's winning. Before I left for vacation, I thought I had finally solved the issue by entombing it alive with epoxy putty in its hiding hole deep within the lowest and largest base rock of my build. I really crammed a lot into the hole. But I came home from my trip this evening to find my six line wrasse MIA and my red starfish missing an appendage. And sure enough, I see the crab hiding in another hole in the base rock of the reef. In the past, I have tried stabbing it and trapping it using the tilted glass method. But nothing has been successful. I have a 29 gallon tank and now am thinking of removing all the rock and steaming the large base. Will removing and rebuilding like this force a new cycling of the tank? Ammonia spike?
. Have you tried making a trap?
The small ones from China are SMALL lol - wouldn't take up much room in your tank, but big enough to catch the culprit
