Here is my 6 1/2" blue linckia star I adopted tonight. I'm so happy!

Nice starfish

I've had mine for over a year and a half and it is healthy as can be...some people will tell you they don't survive in captivity more than six weeks but don't listen. As long as it's healthy when you get it it should di well, mine climbs all over the place and really gets around in my tank rather fast.

I've had a red one for about 5 months but it's much smaller. Do you think they'll fight? The red one is half its size.

No, I don't think they will bother eachother...I had an orange one with my blue and they left eachother alone. The orange died when someone decided to play with my algae scraper and hit it off the top glass really hard injuring it. I know that there is nothing like the color on the blues, they really stand out...you can see them from clear across the room. Mine is one of the first things people notice, especially since it is always out in the open.

Oh man I'd be freaking! Those scrapers and kids don't mix, I can tell you that! I try to put mine out of reach but they get them a lot.
Thanks for the comments. I'm really stunned by him.

I have a small red one named Ziggy. He's been in my tank for about 8 months and doing fine. You got a looker there.

Ziggy Stardust? :D
Thanks I like the red ones too. They look like velvet. I don't think my red one has grown at all, but he's fine.

Blue Linkia Star Fish are not easy to keep long term especially if they were not acclimated correctly to the Proper Salinity. This is a very important step in their long term survival in a reef tank and if they were introduced correctly you may have sucess in keeping it alive long term. JMO

I did a 2 hour drip method. I usually don't do more than adding tank water to the bag for 20-30 minutes but in this case I didn't want to take chances. Hope he does well. But he's so big I might have to supplement his self-feeding, right? What could I give him? I read clam meat but I don't know where to get that. Pieces of krill maybe?
