My new copperband butterfly!

received a copperband butterfly from Saltwaterfish.com today, arrived looking healthy and active. (Minus one mark on mouth) he’s been in QT for about 8 hours now and I figured I’d drop in some blackworms just to try. No luck. Dropped in a bit of frozen brine for the rest of the fish and he actually grabbed (and swallowed) a couple pieces! Gives me high hopes!

Beautiful. You are very lucky, as it doesn't look skinny and ate within the first 8 hours.

I don't think Saltwaterfish.com does medicated QT, so at the very least I would keep it in observational QT for 4 weeks until you can confirm no visible symptoms of disease and train it to eat more than just brine shrimp. It would make your life a lot easier if it can eat everything now rather than worrying about its picky nature in the DT.

I’m doing a medicated QT, 4 weeks copper treatment followed by a prazi treatment!

Not gonna recommend against treatment that's your choice but you may want to think about holding off medication at least until you have it fully eating for a couple weeks, also I highly recommend fully mature rocks he can pick at and feel at home with.

I do plan on going for about 2 weeks of them eating properly. But I can not have any rock in there due to it absorbing copper treatment

I agree with above as well. Just get it eating well first however long that takes. I've had mine 6 years and IMO pods on live rock don't amount to very much for a cbb. They eat a lot. FYI- mine will eat mysis, clam, scallops, shrimp, calamari, black and white worms. Helps to turn off flow. Also heavier foods like frozen seafood sink better than mysis and gives it time to pick if its not eating out of water. I would absolutely get it eating out of water , or a device before putting it in to compete with others.

If you plan on getting tangs later be careful with zebrasomas as the cbb shape is similar. I had to rehome a yellow that sliced my cbb which fortunately survived.
