I just bought some new corals but ended up with a few interesting hitchhikers and i wanted to make sure there's nothing bad in my tank.

1.) The first is a starfish. He's smaller than my fingernail, and looks like an asterina to me. However, i could be completely wrong. I took him out from an abundance of caution but it wouldn't hurt to know what he is so i can keep my eye out for more in the future. I attatches pictures of him in and out of the tank below.

2.) this guy is sitting in the middle of my new zoa frag. I can't get a good picture and honestly have no clue what he is. He looks like a small anemone to me. He's maybe the size of a quarter. Hes the third picture. Hes on the zoas with the purple exterior and small green dots in the middle.

3.) This guy looks like another anemone. Hes about the size of a nickel. Honestly just looks like an itty bitty version of a BTA. Hes seems harmless so far but im keeping my eye on him. Hes just sitting on my rockwork for now. Sorry i couldn't get a better picture.

4.) Lastly this guy has been around for a while. I have about three or four. Looks kinda like a fan/tube worm. Its got a white almost translucent fan coming out the end of a long white tube. seems to be pretty harmless. The picture is of him on the back of my superman monti.

Thanks for reading all this and i hope i described them well enough to match the description to paper. Let me know if anyone known what these guys are. If there's anything murderous to my corals i want to get it out sooner rather than later!

Thanks :)

you’re correct on number one. Two is an aiptasia; an invasive pest. Research removal options. Three is a mojano possibly, also an invasive pest. Number four is a fan worm, harmless filter feeder.

I think this is all correct.

Thanks. I was pretty sure on 1 and 4 so im glad i got the starfish out and didnt mess with the fan worms. I'll try to take the aiptasia out tommorow and ill keep a close eye on the other anenome.

1 & 2: Asterina star

3: Aiptasia anemone

4: Majano anemone

5: Feather duster worm

All except the feather duster are considered pests by many reefers - the two anemones in particular.
